BigBL87 Posted June 24, 2018 at 03:15 AM Share Posted June 24, 2018 at 03:15 AM Recently dropped it into a Boyd's Laminate stock. This was my last 3 shot group from 50 yards. Not too shabby if I do say so myself!
BigBL87 Posted June 24, 2018 at 05:51 AM Author Share Posted June 24, 2018 at 05:51 AM And just so it fits in with gear, here is the rifle. Savage Mark II FV in a Boyds Nutmeg Rimfire Hunter laminate stock. Had to do a tiny bit of sanding to get the barrel completely free floated and ordered nicer bottom metal, but no work done to the action or barrel. BigBL87 Posted June 25, 2018 at 03:13 AM Author Share Posted June 25, 2018 at 03:13 AM I use Range Buddy. It's free for Android, and there is a Pro version for $4.99. Don't know if there are similar alternatives for iOS if thats what you have, not an Apple guy myself. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.reloaderscloud.rangebuddy&hl=en_US You mark a known measurement (I used the lines in the grid, as the squares are 1 inch squares), enter the caliber size and some other info, and mark the bullet holes. It figures the group sizes, POA vs POI difference, etc.. This was by far my best group of the day. Couldn't get my AR zeroed to where I wanted it, I think my eyes were just tired and my rest wasn't cooperating. My Marlin 795 I was working on was a little better, but still not where I want it to be. The Savage was definitely the bright spot. I have used it with handgun shooting too just to get a better idea of where I'm actually hitting POI vs POA.
BigBL87 Posted June 25, 2018 at 11:58 AM Author Share Posted June 25, 2018 at 11:58 AM It looks like SubMOA is the same app on iOS. Disclaimer though, the rating is like 2.6 so don't know if there are issues or something that aren't present in the Android version. The one detailed review complains about it not being user friendly, which I can understand. It took me awhile to get a feel for how to use it but once you figure it out it's very handy. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/submoa/id972446951?mt=
