pitdog69 Posted June 5, 2017 at 03:51 AM Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 03:51 AM Any suggestions on a good Bio-metric safe for the console of a Chevy Tahoe
TRJ Posted June 5, 2017 at 10:47 AM Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 10:47 AM Don't get biometric only. Make sure there's a key or something too as backup method to open. Car interiors see extremes in temperature that biometric safes/batteries don't like.
luckydawg13 Posted June 5, 2017 at 11:04 AM Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 11:04 AM This is the safe that I use it's well built the cable is thicker then most will it stop someone if they have the right tools no but it will slow them downhttp://www.homedepot.com/p/SentrySafe-0-12-cu-ft-Portable-Handgun-Safe-with-Key-Lock-and-Tether-Cable-PP1K/204278678
cls74 Posted June 5, 2017 at 11:59 AM Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 11:59 AM I have a console vault in my Tacoma and love it. Lose a little space but not a whole lot. Nothing is going to stop a determined thief, but it would slow down a smash and grab typed theft. Here is a link to the Tahoe selection, not sure what year you needed. http://www.consolevault.com/Chevrolet-Tahoe_c_171.html

I have the number not the key version. I like it because it turns your whole console into a secure area.

Not biometric, but I've been satisfied with this, although it's not as easy to hack/beef up tether like in some of the other portable safe threads here. http://www.homedepot.com/p/SentrySafe-0-12-cu-ft-Portable-Handgun-Safe-with-Key-Lock-and-Tether-Cable-PP1K/204278678

They do go on sale sometimes. Think I paid 40 something for mine at HD, but no clue what is typical on Amazon.
b52 Posted June 5, 2017 at 09:49 PM Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 09:49 PM Take a look at " gun bunker ". I have one bolted on the floor under the car seat.
ming Posted June 5, 2017 at 10:18 PM Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 10:18 PM I've had the Console Vault for 3 years and really like it. Very sturdy (of course given enough time you could probably get into anything) and it installs in minutes. Bad part is they don't make them for all makes and models. Jaybird78 Posted June 5, 2017 at 11:29 PM Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 11:29 PM I purchased a combo style console vault (recommend by members here) in my 2013 Tundra. Couldn't be happier, if I recall it was somewhere between $200-300 and worth every dime. I can even fit my wife's wallet in there if she decides not to take it with her into buildings. How long do you plan to keep the vehicle? They are model specific. Even the style that has a cable is better than nothing. Someone makes one you can bolt under your seat through floorboard I believe, not as convenient however.

skinnyb82 Posted June 8, 2017 at 05:14 PM Share Posted June 8, 2017 at 05:14 PM Console vault. I'd buy one for my car if I could. I just use a biometric looking safe (has the four buttons in a depression shaped like spread out fingers) and punch in a combo of buttons. Use some heavy duty steel cable to secure it to the frame rather than those junky cables that come with the safe and can be easily cut. 45Badger Posted June 11, 2017 at 11:21 PM Share Posted June 11, 2017 at 11:21 PM On most chevy trucks/suvs- pop out the cup holders. Great space underneath that is great for discrete storage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BigBL87 Posted June 14, 2017 at 02:59 AM Share Posted June 14, 2017 at 02:59 AM No idea on if it would fit the console, but I use this in my nightstand. http://www.sentrysafe.com/mobile/Products/503/QAP1BE_Biometric_Pistol_Safe_
