Here is a new Federal bill that is meant to stop certain states and jurisdictions, from harassing or arresting people that are traveling through, and are properly carrying legally owned firearms. It is meant to strengthen the FOPA, which would be great. I travel to Maine about every other year, and don't dare to take any firearms with me, because of having to travel through places like NY, Mass, and CT.

This would be awesome... Illinois has some good transportation laws. So this means we could transport like we do here elsewhere!

Now that is my kind of bill, I still don't see a little thing like the LAW stopping Bloomberg & Co from arresting innocent people. Good to see Pro 2A leglisation coming out of congress though.

You're already covered by the Safe Passage provision as far as transportation, if you choose to bring them next time.

I'm all for any bill that restores our rights though.

I was just thinking our transport laws kinda sucked actually. I realize that we can have loaded mags at the ready and all, but the gun zipped in a case definitely slows things down if you need it in a hurry....could be worse though so maybe I should shut my trap.
Good night Chesty, wherever you are.

You are right, that we should be covered by safe passage, but I am for anything that would strengthen it. I guess it is my inherent distrust of government. It brings to mind the Brian Aitken case in New Jersey.

I too travel to Maine frequently.  What good does taking something there with you if we are unable to carry there?

I have family there. We like to go out and shoot for fun on the family farm. Plus I have an open invite for hunting. It would be nice to do that with my own firearms. Carry isn't the only thing that can be done with a firearm. Although I can't wait for the day that we do get concealed carry.

UH  YEAH.........  I believe it's in OH  that IF you tansport a firearm with the ammo in the same compartment as the gun, it is considered loaded.  So  ammo  in the cab, gun in the trunk,  or vice versa,  but no gun and ammo in trunk or no gun and ammo in cab.   Of course this doesn't matter if you have a CCP, but then you have to disclose the location of said firearm immediatly uppon being stopped.

And make sure you do otherwise be threatened with a beating and execution.

Wouldn't this bill be moot for permit holders if national right to carry reciprocity passed?
