...Gov.-elect J.B. Pritzker gives $7 million to House Speaker Michael Madigan-backed campaign fund

Gov.-elect J.B. Pritzker helped bankroll, to the tune of $7 million, the campaigns for House Democrats who won big enough to give powerful Speaker Michael Madigan even more muscle in Springfield, according to state election records.

Thats a fraction of the $170 million-plus that Pritzker, a billionaire heir to the Hyatt hotel chain, pumped into his own campaign. But the $7 million was a healthy cut of the money spent on House races, and it helped, Madigan spokesman Steve Brown said....

...Thanks to some big midterm victories in the suburbs, the speaker now has a supermajority at least 71 seats allowing the party to pass legislation or override it without Republican votes if the caucus sticks together....

i think the corruption soon to come from the governor elect and his cronies will be epic.imo he is nothing more than a billionair mobster.he will make our past governor criminal,s look like alter boys.

...and nothing will be done about it.

Why would someone be so interested in spending 170+mil of their own money to govern a state that is 1.6b in the hole only to earn about 200k a year in salary? This is nothing but a power grab by Jabba so he can say he has actually done something with his life. Sad.

Citizens United made the whole money in politics so much worse.

Money is speech ruled the SCOTUS. The more money you have, the more speech you have.

The next person I meet who is against Citizens United who actually understands what it was about will be the first.

Do you think you understand the issues involved and the extreme limitations on the 1st Amendment it would have had had the decision gone the other way?

Fun fact: the money donated by Pritzker to Madigan would have been allowed even if the unconstitutional law hadn't been struck down.
