Xyphis Posted June 21, 2017 at 02:13 AM Share Posted June 21, 2017 at 02:13 AM I seem to have collected firearms from the Atlanta prison system and some county from Kentucky, IIRC. What I would really like is historical firearms from the history of Chicago/Illinois. Are there any MARKED firearms available in surplus/trade-in market? Are there any "famous" ones I should be thinking of? I have tried to Google/search for this but it keeps coming up referencing gun control laws rather than historical firearms for purchase. Any help in my ignorance would be appreciated. I seem to use this site to just vote 'OPPOSE' to most things done in the Illinois government and felt that I would attempt to do something enjoyable instead. I was hoping to find something before I 'pulled the trigger' on a .40 California Highway Patrol 4006 which, although cool, has no real meaning to me. Thanks in advance. NakPPI Posted June 21, 2017 at 11:32 AM Share Posted June 21, 2017 at 11:32 AM If you look at police reports for police involved shootings in Chicago, you'll see that CPD is still rocking gen 2 Glocks, sometimes even gen 1 or revolvers. Some of the newer officers may have something better. The point is, Illinois and Chicago is broke as a heck and I wouldn't get your hopes up of them upgrading so that their guns end up on the surplus market. You may be able to find sheriff's guns from some of the more well off counties, but I haven't seen them. Lake county sheriffs are still rocking old Sigs. mikeyk101 Posted June 21, 2017 at 04:56 PM Share Posted June 21, 2017 at 04:56 PM Chicago Police firearms are personally owned so you would not find any that are marked duty weapons. However I remember seeing certain commemorative Smith and Wesson revolvers a while back that had the CPD star and markings stamped on the side. They were a limited production and will be hard to find. I came across one that was illegally being carried by a convicted felon that was stolen from the family of a retired police officer that had passed away. Unfortnately the worst part about it was that I knew it was going to be destroyed after the case was decided because it couldn't be returned to the family. And every officer who was hired after December 1991 is required to have a semi-auto. So if you see a Chicago Police officer with a revolver you know he has at least 25 years on the job.
