bbkchicago Posted July 26, 2020 at 03:57 PM Share Posted July 26, 2020 at 03:57 PM So I buy 5000 rounds of Federal Wildcat 22lr from a local shop. Seems like it was produced recently, no signs of damage to the case or anything. I load up one of the MP5 clones with a mag, I'm getting more duds than rounds that go off. Literally out of a box of 50, I have 18 rounds that actually fire. I try the trick where I stick the dud rounds back in (with the firing pin dimple in a different position) but these rounds STILL won't go off. I figure it's the crap gun, I break out my 10/22. Load up a few mags, same issue - more than half the rounds just will NOT ignite. I break out a different box from the same brick - same issue. I try a different 10/22. Same issue. I try these rounds in a TX22, CP33, Ruger MkV....all have the same issue. What do I do here? I bought this ammo less than a month ago, should I tell this store about the issue? I'd rather not even have any ammo than have to futz with it so much. PS when I threw CCI standard velocity or Federal bulk copper plated bucket ammo at all these guns, they worked great with not a single malfunction. Tip Posted July 26, 2020 at 06:48 PM Share Posted July 26, 2020 at 06:48 PM Don’t buy Fed Wildcat??? If it ain’t firing outta several guns it probably isn’t the guns. Call Federal, pitch it, sell it to another sucker, or just keep shooting it till you get thru all the ones that go bang and dispose of the rest. ultra magnus Posted July 27, 2020 at 01:27 AM Share Posted July 27, 2020 at 01:27 AM Was going to blame the MP5 clone, but if several Rugers failed with it as well, it's probably bad ammo. Wildcat is Winchester isn't it? There rimfire stuff has sucked for a good long while. I'd give them a call, that's your best bet for a remedy. Otherwise you can try to sell it.
