TRJ Posted February 7, 2018 at 03:42 PM Share Posted February 7, 2018 at 03:42 PM Anybody know who's the best 2nd amendment protector in the Dupage Sheriff race? I'm leaning towards Mendrick. He announced first and was supported by Zaruba until Cronin also endorsed. Zaruba hates Cronin so Zaruba pulled his endorsement.Mendrick seems to have some ideas that would help cut down the budget, and that's a good thing. But neither one has a statement I can find on position on 2nd. Xwing Posted February 7, 2018 at 04:02 PM Share Posted February 7, 2018 at 04:02 PM I don't know the answer, but I'm interested if someone else does. It's always hard to find which candidate to support in non-partisan races...

OldMarineVet Posted February 7, 2018 at 08:55 PM Share Posted February 7, 2018 at 08:55 PM I'm helping DuPage County, Undersheriff (2nd in command), Frank Bibbiano, who is running for DuPage County Sheriff in Republican Primary, March 20, 2018. Frank has served in the DuPage County Sheriff Office for 18 years and has the endorsement of the current DuPage Sheriff, John Zaruba. Sheriff Zaruba will be retiring after winning 5 elections, 20 years.Sheriff Zaruba, a popular Constitutional Sheriff, was among the 90% of Illinois Sheriffs who voted for their 2009 resolution supporting Illinois Concealed Carry. Undersheriff Bibbiano is also Constitutional and dedicated to the 2nd Amendment. He has been a speaker at local NRA dinners.I don't know Mendrick's position on guns.If you like Sheriff Zaruba, you'll like Undersheriff Bibbiano as your new Sheriff. If Frank wasn't pro-gun, I wouldn't be helping him.

InterestedBystander Posted March 12, 2018 at 08:13 PM Share Posted March 12, 2018 at 08:13 PM Noticed the flyers I get from Menderick have gone negative (or maybe I just didnt read the back of prior flyers). Accusing Bibbiano of having liberal backers and liberal values. InterestedBystander Posted March 14, 2018 at 02:27 AM Share Posted March 14, 2018 at 02:27 AM full story at link... http://www.mysuburbanlife.com/2018/03/12/dupage-county-sheriff-candidates-address-gun-control-school-security/a3try2g/ DuPage County sheriff candidates address gun control, school security School security and gun control were two of the topics addressed by the two Republican candidates for DuPage County sheriff during a candidate forum March 10 at Hadley Junior High School, organized by the League of Women Voters of Glen Ellyn. <SNIP> The candidates also were asked about their views on gun control. Bibbiano said he doesn't own an assault weapon but "strongly" believes in the Second Amendment. "That said, when our forefathers wrote that document, they could have no knowledge of what was ahead and what these weapons could be capable of and used for," he said. "That taken in account, the legislators have to have the tough conversations regarding gun control, and I support them in those conversations. As sheriff, I will enforce the laws as they are written." Mendrick said 3D-printed guns are becoming an increasing problem. "That's somebody that's bypassing every regulation that we have," he said. "They can simply put in a program, print out a gun, put a firing pin in it and it's ready to go. That's the type of gun control we should really be looking at... I would start there, with completely unregulated gun use." To watch a video recording of the forum, go to shawurl.com/38om-----------------which resolves to https://youtu.be/dlffPYkhjIY First gun control Q about 17:45 which was covered in print story. Agreed, but the "unregulated guns" sounds like nibbling the edges of a more controversial aspect within the whole of the 2nd. Bibbiano went straight for the "muskets" argument and can load his opinion up his own backside along with a ball, wad and powder.
InterestedBystander Posted March 16, 2018 at 02:02 PM Share Posted March 16, 2018 at 02:02 PM And now the robocalls from Mendrick making the same liberal and sanctuary county charges against Bibbiano as in the mailers. TRJ Posted March 21, 2018 at 04:00 PM Author Share Posted March 21, 2018 at 04:00 PM I live in a section of town where the sheriff is responsible for the unincorporated areas directly north and south of my incorporated subdivision. I absolutely care about it being done right. And if you get a ticket from a County Sheriff it's probably because you deserved it. I've flown past them (thus deserving) and never gotten a second glance. I do see people pulled over by them on occasion and I can only imagine what they did to deserve it. Saying that Bibbiano was rubbing noses with a donor who supports sanctuary county politics got the attention of everyone I spoke with locally, liberal and conservative alike. Dupage might be flipping from reddish purple to a deeper shade of blue, but were also a county full of NIMBYs. (Illegal)immigrants are fine, but stay off our lawn (unless you're cutting it cheap).
