Cook County Firearm Question on Ballot

Scipio24

Recommended Posts

Just looked at my sample ballot (so sad that there are so many unopposed democrats running for some positions) and they ask the following County wide Firearms question in the Referenda section:

Should the State of Illinois strengthen penalties for the illegal trafficking of firearms and require all gun dealers to be certified by the State?

Well what the heck...those are two different questions that I would answer two different ways...I hate Crook County.

It means nothing. They are limited to only 3 advisory questions on the ballot so the crooked party that controls Illinois government fills the ballot with three useless questions so that real questions like term limits and fair maps cannot get on the ballot.

It's called crooked Illinois political rues written by crooked Illinois politicians

I propose a second question for Cook County...

"Does 2 + 2 = 4 and should Illinois become a Constitutional Carry state?"

(Hey.....just asking a question like a democrat!)

The correct response is "NO" (to both sections). It is an advisory referendum and does not directly affect legislation. The Dems are going through the motions to make it look like there is great demand for licensure. Among the ignorant there is.

There are already laws on the books to limit trafficking. They need to enforce what is already there. Your "NO" will be lost among the ignorant "Yeses", but make your view known anyway. It is at least a minor thumbing of your nose against the powers in Cook County and the Democrat organization.

I clearly see it as one question.

My response will be no.

First of all, stiffer penalties? They won't enforce them. Crooks can't vote "D" is they are behind bars.

Secondly - Licensing firearm dealers won't accomplish a thing except run them out of business - which is what they want to do anyway.

The same pols that wrote that also write the laws in crook, and influence the state.

It's a trap. Just look at how it is worded. It is worded in such a way that each and every low information voter, regardless how they feel about guns, is going to vote yes. Then the anti freedom politicians will use that statistic to say "look 85% of voters want gun dealer licensing".

Mark my words.

I think the penalties for illegal gun trafficking are already pretty stiff...if only we'd actually enforce it...

Yes.

Where did you find the referendum info. I have been searching but not finding???

Thank you.

I received my Voter Information in the mail and it directs you to their website: https://www.cookcountyclerk.com/service/your-voter-information?mailer=

Punch in your info and it will show you your ballot.

And yes - obviously it should be answered "No" but many will read it as "do you want to stop gun violence?" and vote "Yes"

Attention Cook County, IL residents: There is a question on the upcoming ballot that is a trick. These crooks never give up. Please help spread this to get the word out on their sneaky tactics. @AWRHawkins @BreitbartNews @DailyCaller @ChrisLoesch @DLoesch @NRA @NRATV pic.twitter.com/f8bCmLiWaS— William Bobalink (@WBobalink) October 19, 2018

Gee...if only voting "yes" on a referendum could actually stop violence or solve any sort of complex problem. Wouldn't that be great?

The results of this vote will give some great information, tho. It will show exactly how many sheeple there are in Cook compared to woke people who actually know something and care enough to understand what's happening.

There are numerous referenda on the Cook County ballots this November, some are county-wide, others are specific to certain townships or municipalities. In addition to that listed in the OP, topics also include minimum wage, taxing marijuana, park districts, tobacco, term limits, nonpartisan local elections, etc. etc. It does not seem to be all that difficult to get a referendum on the ballot, especially if your party is in control.

In 2016 the penalty for gun trafficking was increased from 1 year to 15-30 years in jail.

I do not see an evil intent to confuse people. I have seen enough manuals, regulations, laws in my time to know that many people do not know how to write clearly.

It will pass because most of the voters in Cook County are antigun Democrats. It will make them feel like they are doing something about “gun violence”.

If I lived in Cook I would vote against it. The penalties are strong enough (enforcement and conviction are the problem). State licensure of gun dealers is not necessary and is unduly restrictive.

When the Cook County politicians go to Springfield and claim the licensure is the will of the people based on the referendum results, be sure to contact your legislators and the governor about your views on this matter.

AND OF COURSE, VOTE FOR RAUNER!
