Replacement FOID/CCL cards timeline

Recommended Posts

My wife misplaced her wallet and has started the process to get replacement FOID and CCL cards. She paid the fees ($75 alone just for the CCL replacement). It has been 5 weeks now and still nothing. When she checks on the ISP website they are still listed as "under review". I can not understand why they can not just send her new cards in the mail as they were not expired and she paid the ridiculous fees. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. She did try calling the ISP and after numerous attempts someone finally answered but was not very helpful and could not give her a timeline as to when she could expect her new cards...while she waits unable to carry/defend herself.

Well, that is disturbing to hear; seeing as I lost my wallet just a couple weeks ago.

It was bad enough having to "French Connection" my car to make sure I didn't have anything dropped/cubbyholed.

But I did leave the running boards intact.

Its almost to the point that you shouldnt carry your CCL at all!

"Sorry officer..I dont have my piece of plastic on me...You have my license. I am who I claim"

"Well citizen..While I can verify you have a valid CCL I'm afraid I'll have to issue a violation. Please sign here. You'll have to appear in court 3 weeks from now. Please bring your 'piece of plastic'.

Judge: "While I find you have been irresponsible for not carrying your piece of plastic, your are legal. please pay the court fine of $75 and be on your way citizen"

Meanwhile.

"I lost my piece of plastic"!!

"Please pay $75 dollars....be reviewed yet again...and we'll send you a new one when we get 'round to it. In the mean time. You may not carry a firearm to defend yourself and your family"

Please...welcome the retarded masters that run Illinois. Pay your taxes. Worship them...and say no more.

Or else!

20 Minutes later....

The case of Father Flacky's Bodygard.

"No FOID...no CCL...Please pay $18 dollars and be on your way....Because I value my job as a judge. HEY! I have to protect my 100% pension when I retire at the age of 50 doncha know!. How else do ya think I can continue to make $145K a year for the next 25 years for doin' nothing and passing those benefits on when I die!!"

When I lost my wallet, it took over a month to get a replacement card. $75. Have to renew soon, pay for another class, another $153 and probably a hideous wait since they don't even have the procedure down and will get hit with everyone at once. I sure as heck hope you can renew a few months before expiration, so that you don't have to walk around defenseless while they take their time mailing you the magic card that validates your constitutional right you were already approved for!

Funny how they worry about the "right" of idiots to illegally shut down an expressway, or of illegal invaders to a court hearing in order to kick them out...

What's the legality of requesting a replacement card while you still have yours? Like having a spare pair of glasses, or a spare tire, it'll be there in case you need it.

They will revoke the original and issue one with a new number.

I received my replacement FOID card, but not my CCL yet, in a twist of fate, I found my wallet and CCL. My FOID card has the same number. I wonder if I’m still legal to carry? Who knows! I won’t risk breaking the law.

So Molly, how do we go about getting this fixed? I lost my CCP/FOID about a month back. FOID came in a somewhat reasonable time period. What is the ISP's reasoning for taking so long for lost CCL? Why would they need new prints to speed up process? Who's butt needs a boot in it? This seems to be a administrative thing, not a legislative.

Hello everyone, I applied for address change for foid card on 6/11/2018 an applied for ccl with no prints on 7/5/2018. My foid became active on 7/26/2018(hopefully in mail today) an now has a 10 digit number instead of 8 digits. Ccl is still under review. Can I go back in an put the TCN number for prints to speed up the process. Will ccl have the same 10 digit number as foid card? I know I have to be patient an wait the 120 days for ccl to be approved because I didnt send in prints with ccl application.

It is administrative and the biggest issue is the FOID and CCL data systems do not interface. FOID can't reach over to CCL and tell it good to go. I believe that have to wait on a live person to do it.

That seems strange...

When I sucked it up like other folks here, I clicked on the button for address change on my FOID and the fee was $80.00. Which just about made me faint!

Then I saw that the charge was also for an address change for the FOID.

CCL - $75.00

FOID - $5.00

... + the "convenience" fee of $1.80

My CCL has the same 8 digit number as my FOID - but the CCL number is preceded by 2 numbers, which I believe is the year of issue.

Sorry for resurrecting an old post, but i'd like clarification. I realize it's administrative, but how do we get that administrative issue fixed? Talk to our reps to get the ISP more money? How do we hold their feet to the fire? I know it's not as simple as getting people to do their jobs. The system is messed up. How do we get the system fixed?

I have a little more than a month to go on getting my replacement CCL. I am not expecting this issue to be fixed before I get mine, but if we can fix it for the next guy, I am happy to put my shoulder into the wheel and push. Same goes for change of address. People shouldn't be disarmed because they decided to move.
