Washington (CNN)The National Rifle Association will participate in CNN's nationally televised town hall Wednesday with students, parents and community members who were affected by last week's school shooting.

After a gunman took the lives of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, lawmakers are facing renewed calls for legislation on gun reform.

The NRA accepted CNN's invitation to participate in the town hall and national spokeswoman Dana Loesch will represent the organization.

blah blah, weapon of war...blah blah, weapon of choice...blah blah, ban them...its a place to start

oh...lets ban every semi automatic rifle

*sigh*

Bad, evil NRA spending so much political money! uh...facts?

Rubio isnt going to win a conversation by trying to debate a teenager

yea..."common sense gun laws"...

and now..."high" cap mags. Rubio is reconsidering his position.

Rubio should have stayed away. I can hardly wait for the NRA to appear on stage.

Pass terrorist watch list ban

NRA and Sheriff department on stage next.

Muskets! Not these weapons of mass destruction...

Dana carried herself well and represented the NRA better than I anticipated, especially in that hostile environment.

Sincere kudos to the NRA and Dana for her excellent representation of the cause we all share. Talk about being in the lion's den. In that emotionally charged environment I don't expect many in attendance heard her and actually listened to what she was saying but she deserves credit for speaking the truths amidst the chaos.

I don't for a second fault the kids, the parents who lost a child or their teachers for being so angry and afraid and needing to lash out and vent their frustration to someone. The events they survived earned them that right. At least one person, Dana, had the courage to sit there and try to answer those emotions honestly without pandering. Can't say the same for the politicians or the moderator.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/02/22/florida-shooting-survivor-cnn-gave-me-scripted-question-for-town-hall-quashed-question-on-armed-guards.html

A survivor from the Florida high school massacre said in an interview that CNN rejected his proposal to discuss armed guards in schools and instead handed him a "scripted" question to ask during Wednesday night's town hall on gun rights.

Colton Haab, 17, a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School junior and ROTC member, reportedly used Kevlar vests to shield students during the massacre. He said he decided not to attend the town hall after CNN presented him with the scripted question.

"CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted," Haab told WPLG-TV. "I don't think that it's going get anything accomplished. It's not gonna ask the true questions that all the parents and teachers and students have."

"I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions," he added.

Well stated and thank you for not attacking the victims like others have done, I can’t imagine losing a child.

All of us who have buried a child, no matter their age or cause of death, have the deepest empathy for people in the same position.

NO child should have to be afraid to be in school for any reason, guns, gangs, drugs, other weapons included. And if I could create the 15 word sentence or a 'law' that would stop that, I would and be called a savior. I cannot and am not.

Good work by Dana. clap clap

She did a good job in general but among other things should have said that the AR-15 is the musket of today and she owns them for self defense and is best for women to use because they have little recoil. She answered the question about the militia but forgot to mention that the right of the people to keep and bear arms should not be infringed.

Just turned it on. Rubio insn't for teachers being armed. Wow, he doesn't even want to give them a fighting chance.

Little Marco is also calling standard capacity magazines high capacity and is open to restricting them because less people would likely have died he said. Like he didn't have time to change magazines, by the time police arrived he was gone.

I don't know about all the "hands off" treatment of these kids. Watching this is rather repulsive to me: kids treating adults with such complete disrespect, discourtesy, etc. That's a US Senator, for crying out loud, and you're calling him a murderer?

I think these child activists are overplaying their "righteous " anger, and their wholesale disrespect and bratty bad manners are a huge turn-off for any adult watching.

The joke was that Hillary! reminded a lot of men of their first husband. These child activists are starting to remind me of every know-it-all brat I've ever run into.

Respect is earned. Just because someone is an adult or in a position of power does not mean that person automatically deserves to be respected.Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

This is true. You may not respect the person, but you should respect the position.

It was scripted gun control propaganda and even the banner said students demand action from Bloomberg's everytown.

So let me modify my point a bit... This is probably how the kids have learned to communicate - I don't watch much TV, but from the "reality tv" clips I've seen, it's all emotional shoutdowns and condemnation of this bad person or that bad person.

That said, it does really rub this grumpy old man the wrong way to have a child haranguing an adult - especially one who holds a responsible position like Senator.

But probably it's best that they keep up this temper tantrum. I don't believe it is helping their cause, but of course, i could be wrong.
