I voted today

Early voting is open. I'm done. I pinched my nose and pulled for Rauner, Winger, and Roskam. It felt pretty good voting for Erica Herold. Now I just need to sit back and wait for the morning after elections to see how screwed we are.

Just voted once??

What the heck!!

I may hold out till Nov. 6th for the drama!

Actually, which I know who I am voting for, the "unsure" questions relate to judges seeking retention for the cook county courts...I need to try and research who has ruled on what and if they are trying to legislate from the bench, etc...Anyone have good tips for looking that stuff up? I did 1 or 2 of them and felt like the research for it was overwhelming.

Here in this area known as "Metro-East" (essentially, Madison and St. Clair counties), East St. Louis has an election board separate from the St. Clair county board. The ESL board NEVER reports before the next morning as they have to "dig up" (possibly literally !!) some final votes to keep the "j@ka$$es" in power. I choose to NOT make it any easier for them by waiting until election day to vote.

I dont have as many to research, but the papers give a recommendation, then I look at the BAR association rating and there is one other Lawyer group that publishes a comparison to rate their temperment, knowledge of law, fairness, etc

Get the popcorn ready, its going to be fun watching brand new Liberal meltdown videos :)

We pick up seats in the Senate. We hold the House - easily - and just maybe pick up a couple of seats.

MAGA

That is what I’m feeling. Midterm Election mojo has me up 50 more points !

Love cashing in those Lib tears !!

I really wish I was as confident of Republican majority wins. I drive East to work every day. My feeling is Dupage is lost to the left. Based on yard signs and door to door canvasing, Roskam is sunk. Based on mail volume, Winger is very worried about her challenger. I see loads of money are being sunk on this election by the DNC, and feeble attempts to counter by the Republican side. Just like two years ago, I didn't/don't see much overt campaign support for Republican candidates. Trump lost in my area by like 17% while Republican candidates won other offices. It tells me there's politically independent voters who won't be tied to Trump's behavior as a man, even if they support other Republican ideals.

There were some questions on the ballot.

Shall DuPage County oppose the General Assembly instituting a property tax increase equivalent to 1% of your home’s value to help retire state debt?”

• “Shall DuPage County oppose the creation of a statewide Vehicle Mileage Tax (VMT) which would tax DuPage County citizens based upon the number of miles driven annually?”

• “Shall DuPage County continue to dissolve and consolidate units of local government to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, and increase accountability?”

These questions alone are important, and seem to be written from the perspective of a republican. That gives me a little hope.

We had a discussion about these referendum questions. I feel like they were worded by Democrats. They start the question with a negative "shall oppose". I think this was done knowing many people will kinda skim the question and just see "property tax increase" and vote NO. Same with two and three. I think it was done on purpose. Otherwise, why not just "Are you in favor of a vehicle mileage tax? Or "Are you in favor of a property tax increase?"

I'll admit that I needed to read twice to sort out the negatives. The Dupage Board that approved these only has one Democrat so I'd like to think that they were trying to lead to a conclusion that favors low taxes.

From press release

DuPage County Board Approves Three Referenda Questions for November Ballot

The DuPage County Board voted unanimously Tuesday to put three tax-related referendum questions on the November 2018 General Election ballot.

Two of the questions seek voters opinions on revenue raising proposals impacting issues debated in Springfield. One asks voters to weigh in on a proposal to help reduce state debt. The other asks voters opinions on an alternative method to fund transportation projects. The third question focuses on the Countys Accountability, Consolidation, and Transparency (ACT) Initiative.

Responses to these questions will provide the Board with important feedback and guidance as various proposals are debated in Springfield. Our residents already face some of the highest property taxes in the nation. We welcome the input of DuPage County voters and believe it is important to let their voices be heard on these crucial issues, said County Board Chairman Dan Cronin.

My understanding is that those questions need to be phrased that way for legal reasons (I'm not sure which law specifically though). I attended a town hall meeting in West Chicago for my candidate in the 49th district and she told us those questions would be on the ballot (for Dupage residents) and they had to be worded that way by law. I had similar weird wording during the primary for a firefighter referendum vote here in Bartlett.

Pretty much the same here in Lake County, I have been getting Democratic propaganda flyers in the mail nearly every day for weeks (honestly I have) sometimes 2 or 3 flyers a day. On the other hand, I have only received maybe 1 or 2 Republican flyers this entire election cycle.

Watching local social media sites, there is finally some outspoken people both Republican and Independent pushing back at the Democratic machine here in IL, but there is an equal amount of diehard Democrats that just flat out refuse to see any light, not even a shimmer. Ironically those same diehards complain 24/7 about their property taxes and how bad off Illinois is, but still refuse to admit even one iota that it's the decades-long Democratic control who created the mess and refuse to acknowledge Illinois needs new voices in government.

BTW I will be early voting later this week, probably Thursday.

I Just voted at the Dupage County Addison Township early voting site, tonight just before closing.

The election judge remarked "it's been crazy, LOTS of early voters" BEFORE I could even ASK, and I remarked: "It's just the second day it's been open here!!"...

The impression I got was that they were experiencing the same thing I did at IGOLD - an unprecedented and shocking increase in the numbers of people.

This is an interesting note since the Democrats have really been pushing early voting.

In early voting, Republicans are outpacing Democrats by 33 points in Tennessee, 11 points in Arizona, 6 points in Florida, 9 points in Georgia, 12 points in Indiana, 17 points in Montana and 10 points in Texas.

Addison is heavily DEMOCRAT - Hillary carried the vote with 60%+ in 2016

The wife & I both voted yesterday (the 24th) @ Stratford Square Mall. She will be out west election day so we both voted early.

It was busier that I expected it to be. I have early voted before and there were maybe 2 ~ 3 other voters.. Yesterday, needed to wait for just a bit for a voting booth / machine to open up.

Voted @ around 3:00pm

What, other than a hatred of Trump would motivate democrat voters? Even the Trump hatred is suspect. Ask a democrat for specifics as to why they hate Trump and they start dancing around with false generalities, no specifics. In other words, they have nothing. The democrats have done nothing to help anyone (unless you are an illegal or some kind of weirdo), certainly not the working middle class. The really have no accomplishments to tout or run on, they offer nothing positive to the working class and they are behaving far worse than any petulant child ever would. Is Trump hatred alone really enough to get the average democrat fired up to run out and vote?

On the other hand, Trump and company have given people, especially republicans plenty of reasons to vote. A huge list of accomplishments. I am going to wait until election day, but I can't wait to go pull the handle (R all down the line). I am super motivated to vote republican for the US House of Representatives, we need to keep it republican. I am much less enthused about the state elections, but I will vote republican down the line nonetheless.

You hit the nail on the head for me, I have always been an Independent, I refuse to vote in any primaries as that requires I claim a party affiliation something I won't do. And over the years I have almost always voted across party lines, based on the individuals running not their party affiliation, but as it stands now, the only thing I see the Democrats offering is hate for anyone (even their own fellow party members) that dares have a differing view from what leftist mainstream media and leftist celebrities or organizations are spewing every day, I simply can't vote and endorse that narrative even if the candidate is a swell person. And you are right when you ask any leftist Democrat why they hate Trump so much it's always hyperbole, speculation and/or flat out made up stuff, the truth is they just hate Trump because he isn't a Democrat towing their agenda.

I early voted yesterday. I was surprised, there was a line. The judges were very nice. You walked in and the asked for your ID, validated it on the computer system, printed out the the paperwork stating you were early voting, then you got your ballot. One lady's ID was not matching up, so the system wouldn't let her have a ballot. Listen in, the ID showed West instead of East. So, she got pulled out of line and they were going through a process to validate her.

When I put my ballot in I was voter 345. I don't know if that was for the day or since they had started early voting.
