By them I meant the Democrats as a party in general, not one in specific.

What I meant was they introduced a bill. Your OP was there making a run at it. They cant make a run at it if it doesnt get to the floor for a vote in front of a Republican majority. Its in committee not on the house floor. That was my point. If it makes it to the floor and has Republican support that would be a different story. At this point its just a DEMOCRAT bill in committee. Good to know. Thanks for the heads up.

The dems seem to think that gun control is going to be a winner for them. All this time, NRA membership has grown considerably, people paying out of pocket to preserve their rights. Hopefully, those same people will vote in November and remind the dems (again) that gun control is a losing issue, that there are many single issue voters out there that don't take kindly to being made the "bad guy"

March For Our Lives has brought in something like 500k new NRA members and over $2M in new membership dues and another record for NICS when gun sales had been slumping. This is insanity defined. Every time this happens, NRA membership increases, gun ownership increases or gun owners begin adding to their collections.

It seems like they're grasping at straws. Smearing Trump with their Russia nonsense didn't get them anywhere and even now with that porn star interview the reactions are hardly even caring. So gun control marches forward and for places like Illinois this will be an easy battle for them. Heck we can't even muster enough witness slips to win so how are we going to win at the polls?

I don't take much stock in the witness slips. Maybe I am being naively optimistic, but I believe that the witness slips are rife with duplicates and that people from across the country get involved. Therefore, I don't believe that the slips are a reliable indicator of support for the legislation. But, when Joe BagO'donuts sees the vitriol being spewed at him by the "march for our lives" people and the fact that they are not out to compromise, and the fact that the media is running full steam ahead with the same, I'd like to think that Joe will remember that at the polls. The mask has been removed from the other side, and they are more open about their end goals then I have ever seen. Hopefully that motivates Joe.

I'm sure that'll win them a lot of seats outside the urban areas.

Funny how they cry about the GOP letting the '94 ban sunset in 2004, then ignore how they themselves didn't do anything about it when they virtually ran D.C. in 2009-10.

They won't make that mistake again. Next time the dems have the house, senate, and the WH it's gonna happen.

Unless they want to keep the issue alive in order to drum up their base and use as a weapon against the opposition.
