jwarren10101 Posted June 17, 2020 at 05:35 AM Share Posted June 17, 2020 at 05:35 AM I store my ARs outside of county limits but was looking to order a handguard for one of my rifles. Would it be illegal to ship to a Cook address? Not sure how broadly the AWB applies (if it applies to components that make up part of the upper) Maybe I am being too paranoid
Euler Posted June 17, 2020 at 05:45 AM Share Posted June 17, 2020 at 05:45 AM Any component that's not a lower or a "high-capacity" magazine is legit to ship to your residence.
InterestedBystander Posted June 17, 2020 at 06:00 AM Share Posted June 17, 2020 at 06:00 AM Many sellers wont as a policy and fear of Chicago lawsuits I guess. Chicago (or maybe it was Cook) had undercover teams go into border stores a few years ago. How does a non-state, non-federal Cook law have any enforcement for an entity outside of the county? You can always go to a shop outside of Cook. Never challenged and I consider things like this to be an addon charge situation...assuming if they considered a handguard a component. ....Conversion kit, part or combination of parts, from which an assault weapon can be assembled if those parts are in the possession or under the control of the same person... Windermere Posted June 17, 2020 at 12:24 PM Share Posted June 17, 2020 at 12:24 PM I have something useful to add to this thread but I will not. My apologies to the op, but in light of all the lefties that have emerged on this site, how do we know they would not use the information that could be revealed on this thread about “gear” and turn it against an entity that will ship semi-automatic accessories to cook county, (or any municipality with AWB)?? Also, this will keep anyone in Cook from posting helpful information regarding the op, due to association.
RS1 Posted June 17, 2020 at 11:36 PM Share Posted June 17, 2020 at 11:36 PM I have a bolt action with a handguard. They aren't solely components for "weapons of war." I don't see any way a handguard by itself is any sort of issue. Some retailers might not sell it but then there are sellers that won't ship 9mm ammo or 10 round mags either.
