The response should go like this: "The NRA has to go? Who do you think the NRA is? It's formed by its members and acts in accordance with what its members want. It's not a nameless, faceless bogeyman. The NRA was formed to give its members a voice because politicians too often put their own wants and desires above those of their constituents. When you take the position against the NRA you are taking the position that it is OK to ignore the wants and needs of a portion of the public to advance your own agenda. You endorse the idea that the government can choose to ignore classes of its citizens. Your are against free speech, free thought and the right to dissent. It has nothing to do with safety and is a conspiracy to disarm Americans. They think they're slick and found a catch phrase they can fool and disarm people with. Unfortunately a lot of gun owners have been fooled and it's a slippery slope. To them all gun owners are a threat to themselves or others and they are doing it a step at a time, one day the neighbor down the street can red flag you.
