The pertinent information. I find the second two paragraphs to be the most interesting.

A Chicago police commander frequently praised by Supt. Garry McCarthy for his no-nonsense approach to fighting crime in some of the city’s toughest neighborhoods was charged Wednesday with placing the barrel of his gun into a suspect’s mouth.

The Independent Police Review Authority, which looks into allegations of excessive force and other misconduct by Chicago police officers, investigated the gun-in-mouth complaint and recommended that Evans be relieved of his police powers until the case was resolved, but McCarthy left him in his position. The agency also forwarded its findings to Cook County prosecutors for possible criminal charges.

Evans is among 662 officers with 11 or more complaints during a five-year period in the 2000s, newly released police records show. He had 14 complaints between 2001 and 2006 and faced no discipline for any of them, the records show.

Unfortunate situation and if found guilty his storied career will be over. I bet he won't lose his pension but just goes to show when you carry a weapon, you have to be level headed and mature. Unfortunately I have seen many who are immature and act like juviniles

Which part of the situation are you calling unfortunate? The part that he was caught and is now being punished or that he put the barrel of his gun in someone's mouth? Or how about that this man had 11 complaints against him in 5 years but continued to be employed despite recommendations to remove his police powers?

Or is the unfortunate part that he may have helped put innocent people in jail as part of his storied career?

Everything this man had a hand in should be revisited. After this everything he did should be called in to question.

Agreed. The commentary on this afternoon's drive home on WLS was disheartening to say the least. Roe thought it was perfectly fine for a copper to shove his piece down someone's throat if it would get a gun off the streets.

Funny how they never ask McCarthy why his nickname is streetlights.

Conn is way to happy getting patted on the head for browning his nose and knowing his nice Lexus won't ever get a ticket in the city to criticize an animal like Evans. Besides, McCarthy is on record saying he still supports Evans, so the marching orders are clear: protect and excuse the dirty cop (like always). Here's to hoping Evans catches a charge, gets to do some jail time without protective custody, and learns a thing or two about getting things shoved down his throat.

Cops are mostly dedicated and honest, but there are bad apples, and even good cops have been known to commit egregious acts. Likewise, criminals have been known to falsely accuse police.

It's best to reserve judgement and wait for the facts to come out. No better case in point than the shooting in Ferguson, MO. While the physical and circumstantial evidence supports the rumored officer's version, we can't know if he needed those last four measured shots to stop the threat. (Either way, I'm not going to burn or loot any stores.)

Brown nose long enough and eventually you start choking on (insert 4 letter expletive here).

Have you seen the number of complaints Evans has? How many complaints would you need to hear about Father Didlyhands before you change congregations? How many times would you need to hear about rat droppings in your favorite restaurant before you stopped going?

As for bad apples, the saying is "one bad apple spoils the whole bunch." Rot spreads if it isn't removed immediately.

Complaints in the city of Chicago aren't an indicator of much considering where Evans works. The ghetto is notorious for filing frivolous complaints since there is zero repercussions for filing a false complaint, and said complaints even when found to be unsustained will remain on an officers file forever
