SFC Stu Posted May 1, 2012 at 03:51 AM Posted May 1, 2012 at 03:51 AM The FOID needs to go!! Only a couple of high crime states have it!
colt-45 Posted May 1, 2012 at 04:05 AM Posted May 1, 2012 at 04:05 AM Illinois is the only state that has the foid card. and it needs to go.
bob Posted May 1, 2012 at 11:32 AM Posted May 1, 2012 at 11:32 AM Illinois is the only state that has the foid card. and it needs to go. I think NJ has one as well. And a couple states have similar things. MA and NY force you to get a pistol license upfront that is often hard and expensive to come by. It is not as common as it once was but a number of states once required some form of permit or license for purchasing a firearm. MI and Iowa come to mind. There may be some that still do. We have it pretty good as far as acquiring firearms in this state outside of Cook County for an extremely liberal state. The FOID is a nuisance, but is cheap and while the state is a little slow to issue them, they are shall issue. I would suggest state preemption is far more of an issue than the FOID card. Then go after the silly waiting periods.
illinisnare Posted May 1, 2012 at 04:35 PM Author Posted May 1, 2012 at 04:35 PM Thanks Bud, that's the story..
lockman Posted May 1, 2012 at 05:23 PM Posted May 1, 2012 at 05:23 PM Domestic violence arrest? The article was lacking the reason for the arrest.
TFC Posted May 2, 2012 at 03:06 AM Posted May 2, 2012 at 03:06 AM Either make FOID mean something, or eliminate it. Right now it's just a revenue generator.
SFC Stu Posted May 2, 2012 at 03:27 AM Posted May 2, 2012 at 03:27 AM Illinois is the only state that has the foid card. and it needs to go. Better get familiar with the firearms laws of other states!
