abolt243 Posted February 16, 2008 at 01:31 AM Posted February 16, 2008 at 01:31 AM For some strange reason, it isn't difficult for me to agree! Now, go out and find 'em! Got it done in 1.5, (Piatt and Moultrie, where Abolt did most of the work), didn't work in 1...Douglas. Hey, Coach. Far be it from me to belittle anything that you and many others have done. In most of the counties up till now, the boards were very pro-gun and just had to be shown the Resolution and have it explained to them before they jumped at the chance to adopt it. Now, we're into that second layer of counties that may take a little more convincing. You've worked your butt off with Champaign, and eventually will get them, but what chance would a non-resident have with them?? I saw a little glimpse of that in Moultrie. TPlane did a lot of work in Macon, if he'd been a non-resident, they'd have ignored him. Yea, they may be hard to find. But I think a resident, proposing the res to Douglas in about May, will have a real good chance of getting it on the agenda and passed where you or I wouldn't stand a chance. I know a few folks in Douglas, let me get in touch over the next few weeks and see if we can't get something going. I just think the rest of the counties are going to require local action to get the res passed without a lot of hassle. Just my musings. Still wish you had been there to share Moultrie! AB
Ol'Coach Posted February 16, 2008 at 02:18 AM Posted February 16, 2008 at 02:18 AM Hey, Abolt, I agree with you...but when they ain't there, somebody's gotta at least try! I tried, and was told, OK...but that got knocked down, for some reason. I'm told the SA in Douglas is very anti-gun. I'm just guessin' but I'd be willin' to make a bet that when the Res was run by his office, the red light went on! Hey...you going to be in E'ham tomorrow? I'm plannin' on bein' there 'bout 9 A.M. with gold flyers and a bunch of IGOLD T's to sell...be sure to bring $10.00!! Make that $20...the boy will probably want one, right?...how 'bout the wife...and his wife...

I was gonna run some off and bring them down. Yep, GNHNTN will be with me, and I'll probably have $20 on me!!! We may have a little bit of an in to Douglas county. I'll tell you about it tomorrow. See you in the A.M.AB
Ol'Coach Posted February 16, 2008 at 02:57 AM Posted February 16, 2008 at 02:57 AM I printed the big flyer for all bus routes. I'll do some of the Effingham route also. See ya in the A.M.
bubbahana Posted March 7, 2008 at 04:30 AM Posted March 7, 2008 at 04:30 AM Any word from Dekalb, Kendall, or Lasalle counties yet? I live in the corners of all three of these counties. I work in Oswego and see that the Oswego Township has adopted the resolution but I was wondering if there was any word from the other three because I would like to help. I do have some contacts with some local government types which might help.
Buzzard Posted March 7, 2008 at 04:40 AM Posted March 7, 2008 at 04:40 AM In finding contacts, I'm going to gun shops or retailers that sell ammo and try to generate interest.
Mr_G Posted March 18, 2008 at 08:07 PM Posted March 18, 2008 at 08:07 PM It appears that nobody has been working Kendall County. So, I took it upon myself to put together a packet that contained the introduction letter, a color Pro 2A map and a copy of the resolution. The packets were mailed yesterday to all 10 county board members.

This can be a great place to find information and backing when you need it!!! I'll bet you're not the only Kendall County citizen on this board!!! We've found that it's much more effective when a resident of the county initiates the contacts. Good Luck!!! Keep us informed!! Tim

Molly B. Posted April 1, 2008 at 09:40 PM Posted April 1, 2008 at 09:40 PM Mr. G has indeed been busy! Kendall County Board consisting of 10 members will meet on April 10, 2008 at 4 pm to receive information on the Pro Second amerndment resolution. They will meet to discuss and vote on proposal on April 15, 2008.\ Both meetings will be held at the Kendall County Building on Fox Street in Yorkville on the second floor. I do believe that means Kendall County goes YELLOW!
Chris Posted April 1, 2008 at 11:00 PM Posted April 1, 2008 at 11:00 PM Will we be able to attend the meeting? I work no too far away. Mr. G has indeed been busy! Mr_G Posted April 3, 2008 at 07:30 PM Posted April 3, 2008 at 07:30 PM Wow Molly, thanks for the info. All I did was send a well put together package to each one of them and I haven't heard anything since. I was getting ready to send a follow up letter explaining why this is indeed county business. I live right down the street from the county building and will be in attendance on both days. It's a 100% Republican board with at least one avid hunter. One member, Kay Hatcher is running for State Rep. and I think it would bode well for her to vote yes. The fact that they acted so quickly on it is a good sign. I will get as many people as I can there to show support.

Ol'Coach Posted April 10, 2008 at 06:26 PM Posted April 10, 2008 at 06:26 PM GF... Remove me from Douglas County. The Douglas County Board chairman resented my effort since I am not a DC res. Others have said they would work on it, but I'm not sure what's happenin' there at this point.
Ol'Coach Posted April 11, 2008 at 05:42 PM Posted April 11, 2008 at 05:42 PM Just had a call from a contact in Mercer Co who claimed the 2A Res would be voted on at a Co Board mtg next Thursday. To confirm, I called the CC office, and was told that the Board does not meet until May 1, that the Res was not on the agenda. It was discussed at the April mtg, and info handed out for the members to study. The CC seemed to think it probably would be voted on at the next mtg. This same contact told me they were now active in Knox County, and would begin work in Henderson Co. A contact in McDonough Co is making contact with Board members there. The contact will probably soon be a visitor to this site.

Here is her response: Thanks Lou,If they can attack the 2nd amendment, they can attack any of them. We'll do our best to make sure that doesn't happen.Kay Sounds like she is on our side. Her website for State Rep has an "ISSUES" section where she states her support for the Second Amendment.
GarandFan Posted April 11, 2008 at 06:46 PM Author Posted April 11, 2008 at 06:46 PM Can we agree to state which county is being discussed? Kay Hatcher is from which county?
Lou Posted April 11, 2008 at 06:56 PM Posted April 11, 2008 at 06:56 PM Can we agree to state which county is being discussed? Kay Hatcher is from which county? Kay is on the Kendall County Board, district 1 - Yorkville. She is running for State rep - 50th District because the existing rep is retiring. I think Kay was endorsed by the Tribune.

GarandFan Posted May 6, 2008 at 08:40 PM Author Posted May 6, 2008 at 08:40 PM New Member here and would like to help with this issue in my county. (St. Clair) Flea, great that you could join us. Hopefully folks will chime in regarding what's been done, or tried, in St. Clair. I suspect it might be a tough sell there....E. St. Louis has it's issues and those issues (similar to chicago) often translate into political sentiment against gun ownership. First thing is to identify the county board members, and then, to see if there are any hunters, gun owners, police officers, etc. on there. Unfortunately these days, your better bet would be to investigate those that call themselves Republicans. Then once you make contact, you can use the resources listed in the first post of this thread. Start out with less formal inquiries, then get more formal, including the contact letter, the maps, and (god forbid) the "why this IS county business" letter. And, feel free to post any questions or news here.
