Ol'Coach Posted August 25, 2007 at 01:21 AM Posted August 25, 2007 at 01:21 AM I figure this was worth the effort! It's out in front, baby, on page 1!!!! and here's the column:News-Gazette column
SmershAgent Posted August 25, 2007 at 01:24 AM Posted August 25, 2007 at 01:24 AM The meeting's public participation was dominated by gun rights supporters. How could this be? We've been told repeatedly that there's a broad public mandate for more gun control in Illinois. Excellent work everyone. I regret that I could not be there.

Molly B. Posted August 25, 2007 at 02:40 AM Posted August 25, 2007 at 02:40 AM Last night the Champaign Co. board meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance and as we stood with hands to hearts and repeated those words "with liberty and justice for all" I was reminded why those dozens of gun rights supporters were in attendance - I was so very proud of every one of them. This evening the Mr. and I attended an outdoor concert of the US Air force Band . . . they opened with the National Anthem and the song asked us all . . . O say, does that star-spangled banner yet waveO'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? That answer is yes, YES! Anywhere we stand for what is right and just according to our forefathers and the constitution - that banner still waves. Let's make sure it waves bravely over the state of Illinois. Molly B.

burningspear Posted August 25, 2007 at 04:39 PM Posted August 25, 2007 at 04:39 PM The more publicity the better. Yes, sir. Ol Coach, do you have any trick plays, or do we have to tough it out? What about a "quick kick"?
Ol'Coach Posted August 25, 2007 at 08:15 PM Posted August 25, 2007 at 08:15 PM Yes, sir. Ol Coach, do you have any trick plays, or do we have to tough it out? No, no, no! No quick kicks, and don't intend to be faced with any kinda punting situation! We' have the ball now, and we're gonna keep it in our hands and drive it on down the field! That last play, while we didn't score, got us a first down! Got a gadget play ready to go, should we feel desperate! Don't intend to feel desperate!
GarandFan Posted August 26, 2007 at 01:06 PM Posted August 26, 2007 at 01:06 PM Folks: The article regarding the pro-2A movement in Champaign county is on the NRA-ILA website: http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/InTheNews.aspx?ID=9933

Ol'Coach Posted August 26, 2007 at 05:01 PM Posted August 26, 2007 at 05:01 PM Part of the total game plan... ...we were on local TV, front page of the C/U N-G. Those led to ISRA recognition, even nat'l recognition by the NRA! Though they featured Champaign County, the total Illiinois movement was referred to! It's starting, folks...we're beginning to be recognized! Another 1st down!
ishmo Posted August 26, 2007 at 08:49 PM Posted August 26, 2007 at 08:49 PM Quick update on my Du Page efforts. I'm pretty sure I have an attorney in Downers Grove set to propose the resolution after he sees it (emailed him a copy today), my sister is going to print copies of it and start distributing it to some business friends she knows and I'm working getting a Chief of Police and Lieutenant from 2 different jurisdiction to speak favorably if it gets put on the agenda. I'd rate the possibility at about 60-40 because they both have a few years to go to retire so it will be dicey for them to do so. Scout26 and Lou are also working on some ideas for Du Page and we're going to try and combine all of or the best ideas before we go for it.
Ol'Coach Posted August 26, 2007 at 11:55 PM Posted August 26, 2007 at 11:55 PM Way to Go...GO...GO...GO...GO...GO...GO...

Check out the comments following: http://www.sj-r.com/news/stories/15066.asp I loved this comment after the article "Guns are bad wrote at 8/27/2007 9:06:47 AM One way to fix the gun problem is to make sure that they dont shoot bullets that can kill! Maybe if they put tighter restrictions on the amount of gunpowder that can go in each bullet the world and all of its kids would be safer. They should also outlaw guns that carry more than one bullet. And each household should be limited to one gun. Period. Why do you need 2 killing machines in your house?" WOW I have no reply at all.....

SmershAgent Posted August 27, 2007 at 06:12 PM Posted August 27, 2007 at 06:12 PM I'm pleased that the comments are overwhelmingly positive. The last one was pretty awful, though: I think the government should outlaw guns, and confiscate them all, whether you are a law-abiding citizen or not. We should trust that our government will handle this fairly. We should also abolish the 2nd amendment. It is outdated and there is no need for it in a modern society.
