willxjcherokee Posted July 14, 2012 at 01:14 AM Posted July 14, 2012 at 01:14 AM Time for a confession. I have never carried before.
lockman Posted July 14, 2012 at 01:38 AM Posted July 14, 2012 at 01:38 AM I call BS on Bud's post. How can he possibly carry something that was lost in a tragic boating incident?
vactor Posted July 14, 2012 at 05:54 PM Posted July 14, 2012 at 05:54 PM My preferred weapon would be my s&w 1911 but since we can't carry (yet). I carry my cold steel recon 1 in my strong side pocket with the clip.since i am not allowed to carry (and not wanting to go to the penitentiary for 1-3 years if caught (you know, mandatory sentencing))(despite having 5 ccw permits) i don't carry anything other than a 5.11 penlight, a fisher space pen, and, because the knife laws are so strict, a spyderco mouse (2.5" is the limit where i live. yayyyy chicago) so yeah, that's what i carry. FL|CK this town and this state. i wish i could leave as i would have left a long time ago. facking hate this state and this city.

kurt555gs Posted July 14, 2012 at 09:03 PM Posted July 14, 2012 at 09:03 PM One of the problems with OPs like this one is that really serious people read crapola like that and make a judgement on Illinois Carryu based on the perception generated by posts like this. The other really serious problem is that anti-gun trolls that visit this site see posts like that and will eventually turn it against all of us. Feeding the OPs ego by responding in kind in a macho chest thumping circle jerk doesn't do the fight any gun. Putting this stuff on the Internet in any form is also a really bad idea. It will come backk to haunt some of you some day because whatever you post now is forever. There are some that think they get power from reveling nothing. I don't subscribe to that. Why not tell all what kind of guns, holsters, and ammo we prefer? Or, how we would prefer to carry given the chance. This is a website to discuss firearms issues. We are enthusiasts or we wouldn't be here. The anti's will just make things up when they need to. Not participating doesn't protect anyone from anything. The only ones that matter have the 4473's anyway, so they already know.
Bud Posted July 14, 2012 at 11:21 PM Posted July 14, 2012 at 11:21 PM yep and I really believe the OP carries a 4.5 pound Desert Eagle in .50 Action Express when he is in danger of bears and he really owns a .45 XDS Talking about what you own/carry is one thing, helping somebody to revel in his fantasy is something else all together. One of the things that really worries me when I read some of these posts is that there are people subscribed here who can hardly wait to get a concealed carry permit so they can get a chance to play rambo and actually sally forth every day hoping that they get to shoot a bad guy. Next time you read a post like the one that started this thread, take a step back and try to read what the author is really saying.
Lou Posted July 15, 2012 at 01:10 AM Posted July 15, 2012 at 01:10 AM I don't carry because every single firearm I have ever owned was turned in at St. Sabinas during various Chicago gun turn in programs. I then donated the debit cards back to the Faith Community. The trolls that believe any of the other posts here are also obliged to believe the above.
lee n. field Posted July 15, 2012 at 01:41 AM Posted July 15, 2012 at 01:41 AM yep and I really believe the OP carries a 4.5 pound Desert Eagle in .50 Action Express when he is in danger of bears and he really owns a .45 XDS Next time you read a post like the one that started this thread, take a step back and try to read what the author is really saying. Without a long history of posts and lacking a bunch of smileys, it can be hard to tell when a post is a joke or serious. And if serious, how reality based.
Xwing Posted July 17, 2012 at 02:40 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 02:40 PM yep and I really believe the OP carries a 4.5 pound Desert Eagle in .50 Action Express when he is in danger of bears and he really owns a .45 XDS I think the OP was just being funny. But many people did post their carry preference, and I think that's an interesting discussion to have.
TyGuy Posted July 17, 2012 at 03:00 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 03:00 PM I was just thinking about picking up a Taurus TCP, as Gander has them on a good sale, but after firing my friend's TCP and my Ruger LCP I can handle the LCP better. The TCP has better sights and a last shot hold open, but within 10 yards I can fire both just as easily, and I don't think I'd be able to do much with either past 10 yards. I did shoot both at 50' and the TCP grouped easier, but they aren't really meant for that distance. I really want to save for a nice S&W revolver, but these good deals keep cropping up.
TyGuy Posted July 17, 2012 at 03:01 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 03:01 PM Oh, the TCP had a much shorter travel on the trigger too, but the actual pull weight seemed similar enough. If I was buying AGAIN I would get the TCP, but I don't really want to go through the hassle of selling my LCP, buying the TCP, getting extra magazines, a new holster, blah blah blah blah blah.
vess1 Posted July 17, 2012 at 07:41 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 07:41 PM Dear lord! It's like a mall ninja convention around here sometimes. I carry a General Electric M134 minigun in 7.62mm cleverly concealed a Galco leather trunk monkey special with the optional electronic lid release and controlled by a Western Digital heat sensing motion activated 360 degree infrared laser sighted sending device amd fueled by a self delinking endlessbelt ammunition chute feeding ammo from ordnance trailer attached to my H1 Hummer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oATVz5cUJTY&feature=fvwrel Lol!! I admit I read this and chuckled. Though, when I clicked on the video, it really drove it home and I laughed out loud. Sent from my Motorola Electrify using Tapatalk 2

Steve O Posted August 21, 2012 at 05:05 AM Posted August 21, 2012 at 05:05 AM I've been carrying my Glock 22 with Winchester Ranger "Law enforcement ammo" with a Glaco IWB holster similar to the Crossbreed super tuck...
Buckfarrack Posted September 3, 2012 at 03:11 PM Posted September 3, 2012 at 03:11 PM I like the "thong" type holsters that Walmart sells. They come right or left handed, and in several different sizes and colors for $3.99 Thats hard to beat and i am serious.
RandyP Posted September 3, 2012 at 04:18 PM Posted September 3, 2012 at 04:18 PM Not to feed the bears - lol - but probably I most often am carrying my P3AT in a pocket holster.- assuming I have driven the 20 minutes to freedom in Indiana or a longer drive North to more freedom in Wisconsin etc.etc.etc. Seems like if one's wallet is thick enough there are suitable holders for most hardware of choice. Body size and shape and clothing choices also factor in to the decision. Sometimes a person will have to dress differently to comfortably carry concealed where legal.
kurt555gs Posted September 3, 2012 at 08:54 PM Posted September 3, 2012 at 08:54 PM I have changed my carry gun(s) as well. ( Same criteria as Randy). I put my Kimber 1911 back in the safe, and replaced it with a good Tupperware 9mm. I have two Maxpedition Versapack, a regular, and a Jumbo. In the regular I carry a little Ruger LCR, and in the Jumbo, I now have the FNH FNP-9. My cool but expensive guns are relegated to safe queens. I also have Simply Rugged pancake holsters for the LCR and FNP-9 and belt ammo pouches for the 9mm if I don't feel like carrying a purse, and I am in a free state.

kurt555gs Posted September 4, 2012 at 02:52 AM Posted September 4, 2012 at 02:52 AM There are a lot of people here are interested in technical details John. There is nothing wrong in sharing which guns and ammo we like, or insights into firearm accessories that are helpful. Keeping silent doesn't help any cause. It means boards like this would be empty.

borgranta Posted September 4, 2012 at 04:47 AM Author Posted September 4, 2012 at 04:47 AM If I were to conceal carry in New Jersey I would use a 45acp since carrying hollow points in your gun is illegal.
Ranger Posted September 4, 2012 at 11:33 PM Posted September 4, 2012 at 11:33 PM Glock 26 with Milt Sparks VMII (capacity, caliber, ability to also use other Glock mags I have - don't like thickness for carrying)Ruger LCP with DeSantis Super Fly Pocket Holster (convenience, ease of carrying - not as accurate with as I'd like) I responded assuming the OP question was legit (even though a bit out there in personal choices perhaps) and that it would be assumed that people responding would answer with their preferences for when they are legally carrying. I am not a LEO and cannot legally carry in Illinois except while on my personal property as of now; but I have legally carried in many other states. The topic might be a little off focus for this site and there are other sites where such a topic is a forum mainstay; but it is also a diversion as we all anxiously await the Moore/Shepard ruling.
