Hatchet Posted July 11, 2012 at 02:23 PM Posted July 11, 2012 at 02:23 PM Every time I see a new post in here, I get my hopes up. Then there dashed just as quick.
Danielm60660 Posted July 11, 2012 at 02:38 PM Posted July 11, 2012 at 02:38 PM When this comes in, it won't be a new post. It'll be 10 new pages of posts no matter how it gets decided.
miztic Posted July 11, 2012 at 08:20 PM Posted July 11, 2012 at 08:20 PM There is an RSS feed link on the right side of that page, i have it right in my bookmarks toolbar, so I can click [every 5 minutes ] and see if anything has happened yet. Since ours was one of the last cases heard, would it stand to reason that it's also one of the last cases they rule on? So my money is on the ruling coming in on Aug 8th exactly.
Sigma Posted July 11, 2012 at 09:03 PM Posted July 11, 2012 at 09:03 PM Im trying to figure out where he was trying to go with the guns in bars thing. how do you think that would be written in an opinion
mauserme Posted July 11, 2012 at 09:37 PM Posted July 11, 2012 at 09:37 PM Im trying to figure out where he was trying to go with the guns in bars thing. how do you think that would be written in an opinion I thought that was more about Posner hoping the get an admission from Gura that some interest balancing might be acceptable, than about bars per se. I'm glad Gura stood his ground even if it did get awkward.
drdoom Posted July 12, 2012 at 03:59 AM Posted July 12, 2012 at 03:59 AM And don't forget, 10 more pages on how to 'lawfully' conceal carry your firearm, throughout various cities in IL!
Tvandermyde Posted July 12, 2012 at 01:14 PM Posted July 12, 2012 at 01:14 PM I think it was Posner trying to be a super legislator. Remember he asked what advise they should give the legislature. I think a good answer would have been,: Your honor, Illinois has a seperate statute about possessing a gun in a bar and we are not here to challenge that. What you ask about sounds more like a regulation than the total prohibition we are seekign to overturn here today. If the law is found unconsitututional and the legislature were to pass a carry law, there will be time enough to deicide of they have colored inside or outside of the lines of the Second Amendment, but that is not before today.

While hindsight is always 20/20, this is a perfect response. However, I will say that whole transaction was definitely ackward and I would have thought Gura would have been prepared for a boundry question, and be ready to rein back the discussion as suggested above. Hopefully he doesn't fall into that trap again if this thing get bounced anywhere else.
C0untZer0 Posted July 12, 2012 at 02:38 PM Posted July 12, 2012 at 02:38 PM I think that the judges' questions also give us a heads up of how much releif we can expect from the courts We're not going to get relief from the courts from things like location bans - schools, bars, universities, and probably a lot of other onerous restrictions.
willxjcherokee Posted July 14, 2012 at 12:47 AM Posted July 14, 2012 at 12:47 AM I am getting ansty on a ruling, I am looking at buying a 686 or a carry gun!
THE KING Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:00 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:00 PM ...what does this have to do with the Moore/Shepard case ???? Oh yeah, and that. Just askin I did notice that whomever Borgranta is, he posted the exact same thing in another topic on this forum ????
TyGuy Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:02 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:02 PM I get email updates from certain threads. I didn't even notice which thread this was before I responded, which is MY bad. I need to keep it on topic. Anyone else check the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals every day like I do? Sometimes 3-4 times a day? It's kinda pathetic that we have to wait for our Constitutional rights with baited breath.
THE KING Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:04 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:04 PM OK did like two or three posts just disappear from this topic ??
stm Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:22 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:22 PM Anyone else check the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals every day like I do? Sometimes 3-4 times a day? It's kinda pathetic that we have to wait for our Constitutional rights with baited breath. Yes, I do. It replaces my compulsive behavior of checking for updates on Moore & Shepard at District Court level, and checking HB148 and HB5745 on ilga.gov.
Molly B. Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:27 PM Posted July 17, 2012 at 09:27 PM OK did like two or three posts just disappear from this topic ?? Borgranta's post was moved to the proper topic discussing the UN Treaty. Some of the responding posts went with it.

NakPPI Posted July 19, 2012 at 05:09 PM Posted July 19, 2012 at 05:09 PM Any day now... Posner released 3 opinions today orals were around the same time as Moore. Flaum released some this week too. Good chance this gets written by Williams IMHO. Which means it would have a pro women slant. /speculation

borgranta Posted July 20, 2012 at 12:59 PM Posted July 20, 2012 at 12:59 PM I heard abput a woman the was raped multiple times by the new orleans police after her gun was taken by the troops The New Orleans police raped at least one women repeatedly after the massive gun confiscation during Katrina which disarmed everyone even in the high and dry mansions. The feminists need to fight for armed self defense rights to prevent rapes and murders of defenseless women

The organized feminist movement takes it's orders from the Democrat's chain of command.

TyGuy Posted July 20, 2012 at 03:58 PM Posted July 20, 2012 at 03:58 PM The web section to view an opinion for 12-1269 gives some sort of error right now. Perhaps they are uploading the decision?
