Without burying me in 'legalese' or lawyer speak weasel words, can anyone let us all know what 'mandates' are or will be in place down the road to require Madigan to release any sort of carry bill from committee?

Seems to my uneducated old brain that if everything hinges on the kindness of the President of Madiganistan reasons for me to be optimistic are few and far between? Debating the fine print and specific carry mandates makes for fun internet postings but it remains purely theoretical discussion.

If I have a choice of going to a three day course as part of getting a CCP or go without CC - I'll go to the training.

Are you aware that an armed security guard only has to do a 20hr class to be licensed to carry?

I don't understand why you feel comfortable doing more than that unless you feel you need it or want it.

If me going to a two or three day course would help calm nerves and get us the 4 or 5 more votes we need, I would do it too. Do I think I need it? No. Do I want to do it? No. But it would be worth it IMO.

Its about appeasing people that can get us a bill passed, with a relatively minor inconvenience. I am not willing to concede major inconveniences.

If I was a hoodlum looking to pick up a shiny new gun for the commission of the felony du jour, I would just wait outside one of those places where you have to disarm before going in. Watch Joe Average get out of his car, open his trunk and stow his weapon then once he goes inside, a screwdriver and a tack hammer and I have a weapon. There should be VERY VERY few places a citizen is required to disarm in public. Period.

I don't know about you, but if the antis stick to 24 hours training, then I should be able to carry in every place I desire since I'll have more training hours than an armed security guard: on campus, library, public arenas, etc. The only places that can ban carry are private businesses, but they better have one heck of an insurance policy if something happens to me while I'm in their place of business.

I finally was finally able to view the Ohio video because I can't download at work. I have one comment. I've been in the non-sworn law enforcement business for almost forty years. I've seen and heard of this type of officer's behavior and I totally disagree with it. Just like earlier comments, if the officer has issues, don't take it out on the public. Officers are suppose to serve the public and know the law. Again I don't agree, but after seeing the caption that the dispatcher failed to inform, I might particially fault the dispatcher. Maybe the officer failed to hear the response or some other extenutating circumastance (" failure to communicate"} I'm sure there are other facts behind this case. It will be intesesting of the outcome.

I took the 40 hour course. I still can't carry, and if I could, it would be only while working.

Interesting opinion from Rep Sacia yesterday for what it's worth.

My speculation is that because it’s an election year. Speaker Madigan is well aware that many of his fold may want to vote for the bill, but remember Speaker Madigan is from Chicago where concealed carry is not that popular. He doesn’t want his people voting on a controversial bill so close to the election. My new opinion is (yes I was wrong before) we’ll now see it at Veto Session in November, after the election.

Madigan has put himself in a pickle on this. If the 7th knocks out all the A/UWW teeth, he's gonna have some splaining to do at the next DNC fundraiser.
