TomKoz Posted May 31, 2012 at 04:58 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 04:58 PM SB2539 Amendment, Page 19, Sect. 70 (f): If this passes, will it be illegal to be above .08 at HOME while having a loaded uncased firearm accessible or on your person?? The way I understand the law now as it is, it would not be illegal. I will assume that many firearm owner while at home sometimes go over .08 while having loaded firearms accessible. Does anyone else see a problem with this?? Why would we make something that is now legal, illegal???
mauserme Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:05 PM Author Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:05 PM Tom, this is not the time or place for that discussion. Let's try to get it passed first.
snubjob Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:14 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:14 PM Bornhunter, just relax Madigan is blocking it.But you assured us RTC was coming this year!
souless1027 Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:16 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:16 PM God forbid if dunkin didnt talk
Uncle Harley Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:22 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:22 PM Tom, this is not the time or place for that discussion. Let's try to get it passed first. whoa whoa whoa, Really? That .08 thing is a bunch of bull chit, and we NEVER get anything changed after we get something passed. I say fug it! , if they want the courts to handle it, I will gladly carry with my FOID when it becoumes our new carry license.

Only problem with the courts is that those lawsuits are not doing very well and setting a bunch of bad legal precidents in their wake. I would rather see the bill pass and the fallout from the lawsuits end.
hunterdale Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:32 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:32 PM Good Lord....more taxes. I've been listening this morning. I really think all these people do is go to work all day and dream up new ways to tax us. A tax on nudey clubs to help rape victims???? You want to help rape victims...PASS THE RTC BILL!!! They won't be a victim!! I have to go to work, certainly appreciate those that listen to this "stuff" all day. Thanks.
Drylok Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:33 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:33 PM If the .08 thing is the biggest problem I can live with it. It's no big deal

I would rather see the bill pass and the fallout from the lawsuits end. The current crop of lawsuits will end when the right to bear arms, outside of the home, is recognized by the SCOTUS. Passage of a carry bill will not stop the remaining suits that have been filed across the country. Yes there are criminal (and some civil) cases that are setting 'bad precedent,' but the right cases are working their way up.
mstrat Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:40 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:40 PM SB2539 isn't even on the calendar. There's pretty much a 0% chance it will come up for a vote, no?
whosawmike Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:40 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:40 PM I'm sure that this has been thought of already, but... Is it possible for us to hold up HB3881 in the senate or elsewhere until a carry bill is passed? I am guessing that it is past that point, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Drylok Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:40 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:40 PM It doesn't matter what is or isn't on the calendar. A bill can come up anywhere at any time.

That's what I'm trying to find out. From the 'Urgent Action' thread, the bill is in committee and needs to be moved out by Madigan. It's unknown at this point if Madigan will allow it out or not.
mstrat Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:50 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:50 PM On an off-topic note - for anyone wondering how our state government is so bloated, overspent, and inefficient .... you just heard it. They opened a new office, authorized multiple new positions... with admittedly NO IDEA what it will cost. And no evidence that it will have a positive outcome. When there are no consequences for being wrong, money gets thrown left and right.
mauserme Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:53 PM Author Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:53 PM Criminal Law recommends the House Motion to Concur with Senate Amendment No 1 to HB1907 be adopted.

Is it possible for us to hold up HB3881 in the senate or elsewhere until a carry bill is passed? I am guessing that it is past that point, but it doesn't hurt to ask. yesterday's action was concurrence on a Senate amendment to a house bill. Final action. It's on it's way to the Gov. That's what made is such a good target to use to leverage votes. Why our friendly reps didn't chose to take advantage of that is beyond me. Tim
Drylok Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:58 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 05:58 PM Because the bill itself isn't anything important to chicago reps. If we amended something they really wanted it might have had some leverage. Edit Oh never mind you meant that 3881 or whatever it was.
whosawmike Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:13 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:13 PM I see. Thanks abolt. I didn't realize that was the case.
TyGuy Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:28 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:28 PM "Less than 1 gallon of gas per year." Yeah, sure, but you do that for this bill, and so do 10 others this session. Then the people of IL are on the hook for 10 gallons of gas per year. Do that every session and you can see why even "small" tax and fee increases upset me.
Scots Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:31 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:31 PM Listening to Acevedo just makes me angry. It doesn't even really matter what he's talking about.

mauserme Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:45 PM Author Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:45 PM I'm not even getting very reliable audio at this point. Are others able to watch?
Jason4567 Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:47 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:47 PM I've taken to running both. I mute the video player, and listen to audio. That way if I want to see for a sec, I can look, but it's more reliable. And my audio was pretty good, but a bit choppy as I type this.
Scots Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:48 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:48 PM It's fine for me. The speaker just said - "Please remember that this is a day of adjournment, so please keep your comments as short as possible." Evidently they are more interested in getting out of the room than tackling the issues.
bsachnoff Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:48 PM Posted May 31, 2012 at 06:48 PM Still on the Crete Detention Center....
