snubjob Posted May 26, 2012 at 10:22 PM Posted May 26, 2012 at 10:22 PM Does anyone know of anybody who has held an elected office anywhere in our nation longer than Mike Madigan? Don't know that it makes any difference in any way, but i find it pretty interesting that someone could hold a position as long as he has. Seems to be some kind of a record. [ Somewhere in the 42 year area if wikipedia isn't mistaken]

richp Posted May 26, 2012 at 10:55 PM Posted May 26, 2012 at 10:55 PM Hi, Google is your friend, and you find there is competition in this race. For example, Strom Thurmond was a U.S. Senator for 48 years. The current Mayor of Richmond, VA has been in office for 60 years. But the record for higher office might be Robert Byrd -- he had not quite 57 years in the House and Senate, and his combined "public service" exceeded 60 years if you include State legislative time. FWIW. Rich Phillips
snubjob Posted May 26, 2012 at 11:21 PM Author Posted May 26, 2012 at 11:21 PM Thanks Rich. My objective was to get people thinking about it. Didn't really know how he stood as far as records for time in office, but wanted to see if anyone found it as interesting as i did. Does this make anyone question how someone retains an office for that many years?
SFC Stu Posted May 27, 2012 at 03:29 AM Posted May 27, 2012 at 03:29 AM Because stupid people keep voting for him???
bersa380 Posted May 27, 2012 at 04:28 AM Posted May 27, 2012 at 04:28 AM I wonder how many living registered voters actually cast there vote for him? I think voter fraud is more rampant than anyone wants to believe. Sent from my MB870 using Tapatalk 2
