The argument that we're historically bound to guns is antiquated. Even as we remember history, at some point we must move on and shape policies that are in a modern society's best interests. Voting is a right; gun ownership is a privilege.

Not sure but I've heard that was the "rationale" behind the FOID. Because of all of those dangerous civil rights people carrying guns in the streets.
