Bud Posted March 13, 2012 at 11:20 PM Posted March 13, 2012 at 11:20 PM Here's an update from the Senator: http://photos.illinoissenatedemocrats.com/voice/images/SullivanW650.jpg Dear Friends, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to those of you who have joined our ranks over the weekend. Just since our last email on Friday, our list has more than doubled and we are now over 6,000 strong. Thank you to those of you who helped spread the word. Thanks to your work, we have now crossed the half-way mark towards our original goal of 10,000 signatures by March 23rd. If we keep it up at this pace, we will easily reach 10,000 signatures, and perhaps even 15,000 or more! Our petition is garnering attention all across downstate Illinois. Below, please find an overview of some recent media coverage that is helping to spread the word. Let's keep it up! oldude Posted March 14, 2012 at 02:28 PM Posted March 14, 2012 at 02:28 PM It appears that this petition has been removed by Google for violating their terms of service. GB I just called Senator Jacobs office in Springfield. They were not aware of Google shutting it down. The lady I spoke to thanked me for calling and said she would get right on it. She thanked me again for letting them know. Here's a little youtube clip of Senator Jacobs http://www.youtube.c...player_embedded
stm Posted March 14, 2012 at 02:57 PM Posted March 14, 2012 at 02:57 PM Great video! He can be a knucklehead at times, but Mike Jacobs has always supported us. He is facing a tough battle for reelection. Fortunately, his Democratic opponent in the primary had an A+ ranking from the NRA. The Republican is also a very strong 2A supporter. No matter who wins this race in November, it will be a vote for 2A rights.
Molly B. Posted March 14, 2012 at 03:37 PM Posted March 14, 2012 at 03:37 PM From Sen. Toi Hutchison, Chicago Heights: March 9, 2012Dear Friends, I'm writing to thank you for being one of more than 3,000 people to sign our petition at www.OpposeChicagoGunLaws.com in just three short days. Thousands of people from every corner of Illinois have joined together to speak out against legislation to force law-abiding gun owners to register their handguns with the government for a fee (HB 5831), as well as tax ammunition (HB 5167). These measures, backed by Chicago's Mayor Rahm Emanuel, recently passed out of a House committee and could soon come up for a full vote on the House floor. In addition to signing the petition, many of you visited Springfield to lobby me and other legislators as part of the Illinois State Rifle Association's Illinois Gun Owners' Legislative Lobby Day (IGOLD). My colleague, State Senator John Sullivan, Chairman of the Senate Democrats' Downstate Caucus, spoke at the rally before hundreds of ISRA members flooded the Capitol. Click here to watch a video. While we are certainly off to an impressive start, I know there are still thousands more who agree with us that these laws are massive infringements on our Constitutionally protected 2nd Amendment rights. It is my hope that, by spreading the words to our friends and family, we can grow our numbers even further. An important legislative deadline is fast approaching. March 30th is the deadline to pass bills out of the House and Senate. We need to make sure these Chicago anti-gun laws are NOT passed. For that reason, my colleagues and I are setting our own deadline for this petition. With your help, I know we can collect at least 10,000 signatures by March 23rd. That allows us to present these signatures to legislative leaders in time to block these bills from passing. Will you help us reach our goal of 10,000 signatures by March 23rd? Consider forwarding this email to your contacts, and be sure to mention the website www.OpposeChicagoGunLaws.com to all your friends and family. I want you to know-your voice will be heard. Should these two pieces of legislation come for a vote on the Senate floor, you can count on me to vote no. Not only that, but you can be sure I will do everything within my power to urge my colleagues to do so as well. Thank you for your work on these issues, and know that I'll keep you apprised of events as they develop here in Springfield. Sincerely, Senator Toi Hutchinson40th District – Illinois Chicago Heights Office222 Vollmer Rd. Suite 1D • Chicago Heights, IL 60411708-756-0882 (Phone) • 708-756-0885 (Fax) Kankakee Office200 E. Molly B. Posted March 14, 2012 at 03:39 PM Posted March 14, 2012 at 03:39 PM It appears that this petition has been removed by Google for violating their terms of service. GB Link still works for me and Mr. B just signed on.
oldude Posted March 14, 2012 at 04:11 PM Posted March 14, 2012 at 04:11 PM Link still works for me and Mr. B just signed on. I just checked the link again and it is working. I called back to Senator Jacobs office and the girl told me that I was on her list to call. She said that she notified their communications people and they (somehow) got it back online.

Good idea to let them know. Really glad to see they fixed it. I do wonder what they had to change to get it back up. Maybe they were missing a key field that Google considered "requied" to have a petition up.
Molly B. Posted March 14, 2012 at 08:06 PM Posted March 14, 2012 at 08:06 PM Not everyone is online. If you would like to collect signatures in your area, here is a petition form you can download and then fax to the Senator. Anti-Chicago Gun Petition.pdf
Xwing Posted March 14, 2012 at 10:04 PM Posted March 14, 2012 at 10:04 PM Not everyone is online... I don't believe you. My wife is trying to plan a 70th birthday party for her mom, and said that not all of her mom's friends have email. I also think she's making it up. I really cannot fathom someone living in this day without a computer, internet, & email.
