Don't bet on anything happening with RTC in the legislature before the primary. i forgot when is the primary? and you are talking about Illinois primary right? i would of thought Rep. Ford had all the time in the world to do this. they are wanting more time to go pass the primary's, that's what he is wanting. IMO
Lou Posted February 6, 2012 at 03:52 PM Posted February 6, 2012 at 03:52 PM Will know more tommorow. Don't bet on anything happening with RTC in the legislature before the primary. According to an article in today's Libune we shouldn't expect ANYTHING of substance this year. The widespread expectation in Springfield is that the General Assembly could nibble around the edges of the big issues this spring, doing just enough to tell voters back home they did their best but leaving the more difficult decisions until after the November election."I don't think it would be a big secret for me to say that there are many on the House floor who are not going to want to take votes on very controversial issues before the (March 20) primary," said Rep. Lou Lang, D-Skokie. "In fact, we'll go farther: There will be people here who don't want to take votes on controversial issues until the general (election)." Read the entire article here: Trib Link

But, it's OK, it's just until after the election so the politicians can keep their jobs!! I'm sure no one will mind!! I hope those people that keep electing these "carreer politicians" are proud. Tim
chicago Posted February 6, 2012 at 06:50 PM Posted February 6, 2012 at 06:50 PM Am I viewing this correctly?... The democrats are proactively going after an assault rifle ban, etc. And the republicans are hiding from concealed carry?

The democrats are proactively going after an assault rifle ban, etc. And the republicans are hiding from concealed carry? No - it's not that simple. The CHICAGO Dems are proactively going after an assault rifle ban. And a motorcycle helmet bill. This after they've ALREADY passed civil unions, abolished the death penalty and passed a huge tax increase. All these are Liberal agenda items. The SOUTHERN Dems, which are Conservative, want concealed carry. But so far the Chicago Dems won't support it. The Republicans aren't hiding from concealed carry. They just don't have the votes to pass it. The Dems hold the majority in the Senate and the House and we have a Democrat Governor. The Dems are running the show. Which means Chicago is running the show.
