Molly B. Posted August 16, 2011 at 10:25 PM Posted August 16, 2011 at 10:25 PM We will be needing tactical self-defense tongue depressors to hand out at the upcoming town hall meetings (might be as many as 5-6 town halls Feb. 20-29) and IGOLD on Mar. 7. We need volunteers to print out and apply 2/3" x 3 7/16" labels on 6" x 3/4" x 1/16" craft sticks. The labels are available at most office supply places and the craft sticks are available at Wal-martand most craft supply places. The ones at Wal-mart come 300 to a box. The ISP website has changed the url for the webpage advising women to use a hair comb, car key, or gagging yourself to vomit so the old labels are outdated. A file is attached for making the labels. We would like to have at least a hundred of these for each town hall and 1,000 for IGOLD. Please sign up here if you are willing to volunteer. You will need to make arrangements to get them to us in time for the meetings. Tongue depressor labels.pdfTongue depressor labels.doc

I think I first contacted them and expressed my outrage about 5 years ago and still it remains. On the other hand, it sure helps in our efforts to show the Gov.'s total disregard for the safety of women in Illinois

Lou Posted February 8, 2012 at 06:43 PM Posted February 8, 2012 at 06:43 PM OK Valinda - ya hooked me in. Put me down for a box.
abolt243 Posted February 8, 2012 at 09:55 PM Posted February 8, 2012 at 09:55 PM OK Valinda - ya hooked me in. Put me down for a box. Several weeks ago Conservative 1 of the pink AR sent a PM asking if we were going to need these again. Perhaps she'll see this thread and help us out!! Timi
Dilbert Posted February 8, 2012 at 11:26 PM Posted February 8, 2012 at 11:26 PM I seem to remember my father saying something about a “sharp stick in the eye.” What if one end is cut into a point, people could have a multi-purpose defense tool. Vomit or poke them in the eye. Then again the IL AG would probably file charges of premeditated assault with a dangerous weapon against the intended victim.

Timi I was just pming her the other day about IGOLD and possibly helping with selling buttons and what not. They went ahead and made arrangments for IGOLD but they're not able to commit 100% just yet but will know very soon.

Is a Teasing Brush used to tease the assailant?
whosawmike Posted February 10, 2012 at 12:18 AM Posted February 10, 2012 at 12:18 AM I think that we should get women to carry these in holsters at IGOLD.
RINGKINGS Posted February 12, 2012 at 10:31 PM Posted February 12, 2012 at 10:31 PM Also from the driving section of the Illinois State Police "Above all, if there is no escape, do not resist."........apparently the Illinois State Police have joined forces with Criminals for a Safe Work Place (CSWP)........ and Carjackers of America (CJA).
vezpa Posted February 13, 2012 at 03:24 AM Posted February 13, 2012 at 03:24 AM We should send a box of those to every firearm store in Illinois to put on on their counters to distribute.
Davey Posted February 13, 2012 at 05:51 AM Posted February 13, 2012 at 05:51 AM I got about 225 sticks I will work on putting together. I'll let you all know when I finish them.
Lou Posted February 13, 2012 at 04:27 PM Posted February 13, 2012 at 04:27 PM We should send a box of those to every firearm store in Illinois to put on on their counters to distribute. Can we put you down for a box of 300 then?

Romano For Rep Posted February 13, 2012 at 09:08 PM Posted February 13, 2012 at 09:08 PM I just click on the ISP website....under the puke on yourself tactic, is this little piece http://www.isp.state.il.us/crime/assault.cfm#ASLTCONF "If you must fight- *Guns stolen from residences are a primary way of getting guns into the hands of criminals. *Be aware of those times and places where there is a potential for attack and be prepared to defend yourself.parking lotswalking at nightwaiting for a buselevatorsother you will learn to recognize" what does the first sentence have to do with fighting off an attack? Blatant propaganda anyone?!

Blatant propaganda anyone?! I wondered the same thing. If guns stolen from residences are a bad thing, then why not allow us to take our guns with us, outside the residence, so that we are "prepared to defend yourself". Tim
billzfx4 Posted February 13, 2012 at 09:52 PM Posted February 13, 2012 at 09:52 PM *Guns stolen from residences are a primary way of getting guns into the hands of criminals. I thought they came from private sales at gunshows, via the "loop-hole".

The safest thing is to round them up and destroy them. Especially historical pieces - they don't have loaded chamber indicators. I just had to say that because the other day I was shown a VERY old Government 1911 - Property US Army - that had been chopped into pieces . . . . lest a criminal got his hands on it.

If the government was the one who chopped it to pieces a criminal did get their hands on it.

assistantchief Posted February 14, 2012 at 12:05 PM Posted February 14, 2012 at 12:05 PM Do you still need tongue depressors? We can pick up a couple of boxes and bring them to IGOLD if needed.
Yas Posted March 2, 2012 at 03:21 PM Posted March 2, 2012 at 03:21 PM Has anyone checked the ISP website recently. I'm reading http://mausersandmuffins.blogspot.com/2012/03/thoughts-from-road-danger-real-and.html This this morning and knowing which state she's talking about, I went to the ISP foid page to find and sent her the link with our famous throw up quote and am getting an error message.
Davey Posted March 5, 2012 at 03:27 PM Posted March 5, 2012 at 03:27 PM The sexual attack site is gone! What am I supposed to do with all these sticks now?
Molly B. Posted March 5, 2012 at 03:36 PM Author Posted March 5, 2012 at 03:36 PM Bring them - we can still use them! They took the page down after the Rockford town hall meeting when the Rockford newspaper did an article about it!!
Davey Posted March 5, 2012 at 03:37 PM Posted March 5, 2012 at 03:37 PM Well all I got are about 200 blank naked sticks. I wasn't gonna bother printing labels if the link is dead.
