Tvandermyde Posted November 19, 2010 at 02:19 AM Posted November 19, 2010 at 02:19 AM We'll guys and gals…. First week of veto session is over. Nothing of note happened on guns or 2A issues. A church group from the Gold coast came down to make some sort of plea for gun control. Got to meet some of the incoming freshmen, and some of the replacement legislators. We handed out 15 bills for the next session in the House. Just the first round, more to follow as I get them drafted and we kick around ideas. RTC was handed to Rep. Phelps. Now before everyone gets all whacked out when the read it, it is the same as HB-462 from this session. WE have been working on a major re-write of the bill. And are still talking to law enforcement groups to get their final take and maybe approval. That being said, it is easier on staff to analyze the bill. They can simply dust off the old one from this year, change the bill number and they are done. The bill will be amended. It will be substantially better and changed. But we don't need to tip our hands on this to early and give them 2 months to work up arguments. So please bear with us. We will start dropping bills off in the Senate in two weeks. Along with more House bills. I can tell you the mood at the capitol is very positive. We have a lot of new developments at the capitol. And I feel very, very good about things. We expect them to be able to pre-file bills after the 1st of December. Not sure how long before they are online after that, but you'll be able to see them when they are. We are back in on the 29th. Then we come back after the 1st of the year.
mauserme Posted November 19, 2010 at 03:40 PM Posted November 19, 2010 at 03:40 PM Are you expecting the typical violation-of-rights package from Daley next session, or will he not bother with retirement looming? Or, will someone just step in to push the same nonsense in his absence?
Tvandermyde Posted November 19, 2010 at 04:56 PM Author Posted November 19, 2010 at 04:56 PM I will expect some of the same maybe a few new ones. the diggins bill will come back so will lost or stolen. No private transfers musch the same. they just haven't seen all the stuff we have been dreaming up........
TTIN Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:59 AM Posted November 20, 2010 at 02:59 AM Todd, please excuse my ignorance about bills and such, but do we need to have someone introduce a bill in the Senate,or do we always start in the House?
Drylok Posted November 20, 2010 at 04:12 AM Posted November 20, 2010 at 04:12 AM Todd, please excuse my ignorance about bills and such, but do we need to have someone introduce a bill in the Senate,or do we always start in the House? we can attack from either side, just like they can.
Tvandermyde Posted November 20, 2010 at 12:32 PM Author Posted November 20, 2010 at 12:32 PM we can do either or. you are probanly thinking about the us consitution requirement that calls for all approp bills to start in the house. We will do the senate in two weeks, just getting things set up as there is more ground to cover with twice the reps
TTIN Posted November 20, 2010 at 03:21 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 03:21 PM Well there's a certain Senator from down my way who stood up in front of the Franklin Co. townhall meeting and said if we need a carry bill introduced in the Senate, that he would.....remember that Molly? Edit; Thanks for the info everyone.....this site is a great learning resource.

Houndawg Posted November 20, 2010 at 05:21 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 05:21 PM Great, until Phelps does something idiotic like change it to a carry bill for judges only.
Molly B. Posted November 20, 2010 at 06:24 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 06:24 PM Great, until Phelps does something idiotic like change it to a carry bill for judges only.????

abolt243 Posted November 20, 2010 at 08:33 PM Posted November 20, 2010 at 08:33 PM Great, until Phelps does something idiotic like change it to a carry bill for judges only.???? He already sagotaged one of his own bills by doing that. "sagotaged"?? Which bill number was that and which session? You are aware that many times bills are introduced with the intent to amend them to something completely different than they started out as?? Brandon Phelps has been a very strong supporter of all things 2A and has the advantage of being a member of the majority party. I'd be damned sure of my facts before I accused him of "doing something idiotic". What's the matter with a carry bill for judges anyway? AB
