Oh Dicks sporting goods would be another. Yes! Dick's is in complete support! They have kept signup sheets for IGOLD. Farm and Fleet will probably make flyers available in their employee's lounge, but not in the register area. "Against corporate policy." Rural King may place them in the register area. ETA: The owner of Gold and Diamond is also the pres of the CC Sportsman's Club. I'll get flyers to him, with enough for him to take to the club. AAMOF, we talked about it today!
Ashdump Posted May 21, 2010 at 12:24 AM Posted May 21, 2010 at 12:24 AM I don't think Big R allows flyers to be hung up, but I think they do allow flyers and hanbills to be set on the sporting goods counter. We have a Monical's pizza and Walmart too. I think there is a new gun shop in Homer also, haven't been there yet.

Drylok Posted May 24, 2010 at 03:16 PM Author Posted May 24, 2010 at 03:16 PM ATT:Coach, Templair, Ashdump, Sctman800Once we get the fliers made my plan is to distribute stacks of them to you all. If Coach and Temp can cover Champaign Co and Ashdump and Sctman800 can cover Vermillion co I have enough friends down here to help me cover Edgar & Douglas county. I'm starting off with 500 copies and we'll go from there as we need more.
Murf Posted May 24, 2010 at 06:50 PM Posted May 24, 2010 at 06:50 PM Will you have the flyer in .pdf format? I can probably get a couple distributed in Coles County. It's been years since we've had any kind of pro-2A town hall down here, and folks just might be willing to drive up to attend. It can't hurt to try in any case. I'd also love to see you add the Journal Gazette/Times Courier to your media outlet list for whatever press release you do. That will cover both Mattoon and Charleston: Journal Gazette/Times-Courier100 Broadway AvenueMattoon, IL 61938(217) 235-5656 Fax (217) 238-6886

On one hand I'd like anyone in E. Central to attend but on the other hand due to limited space I'd like to ask only Edgar/Douglas/Vermillion/Champaign co residents attend and then if there's enough interest in the counties s and west of us then we'll set up another town hall for them. See what I mean?I gotta look in my notes and see what Valinda had said about that. I bet you could get a good crowd with that Coles, Moultrie, Shelby area

Maybe you could send a press release to the JG/TC after the fact just to report that such a meeting was held and give a recap of the highlights? If published locally, it would still help raise awareness of the RTC movement downstate without risk to the limited meeting space.

Drylok Posted May 25, 2010 at 01:01 PM Author Posted May 25, 2010 at 01:01 PM I stopped by and met with Samantha Hutchenson at the Newman Independent to inquire on prices for advertising in her paper. There's a wide range of options but the ones I thought we'd be interested in, one of them is 4 x 4.75 in and it's $28 per week. The other is half the size and it's $14 per week. There is also a $2 discount for non profit organizations. It thought her paper coupled with The Tuscola Journal would be a nice fit because the Journal mostly stays on the W side of Douglas and the Newman Independant is very popular on the E side of Douglas and the W side of Edgar, plus N a bit too. Molly, I do appreciate you offering to handle the newspaper advertisements but as busy as you are I can contact the others and take that burden off your plate if you'd like. Just may need some guidance, direction and funds here and there.

If we buy ads, we will need donations to cover them.
Drylok Posted May 25, 2010 at 02:00 PM Author Posted May 25, 2010 at 02:00 PM yep she mentioned that as well. I see that 98.5 has a community calender on their website also. I'm going to call and inquire what it takes to have events posted there.
Drylok Posted May 25, 2010 at 02:11 PM Author Posted May 25, 2010 at 02:11 PM Just talked to 98.5. There is a community events tab specifically for non profit organizations and you just enter your event and info, corporate approves it to verify you are not for profit organization and they post it up. I'll check WIXY and see what they have as well. Edit: Yep, WIXY is the same, just post and go. There's already events on there through July so as soon as we get our flier together I'll just copy what we put on it into the WIXY community calendar.
Drylok Posted May 26, 2010 at 01:36 AM Author Posted May 26, 2010 at 01:36 AM We got another donation today. Also got a call today from Upclose, and the raffle tickets are ready to roll. If time allows I will stop by tomorrow to pick them up.

If I have mine from you by then, I hope to make it to the GSL meeting and will have a few hundred to pass out to people at the meeting. Did that for such as IGOLD, and lots of people took lots of fliers to pass out at their own places of business, or distribute elsewhere. Staples will print 500 for much less $$ than I can do it on my printer, and in far less time! ETA: if I'm not able to make it to the meeting, I'll make sure the fliers get there.

Drylok Posted June 7, 2010 at 02:19 PM Author Posted June 7, 2010 at 02:19 PM Time didn't allow to get in the parade for the Brocton Fest but we made it there to hand out fliers and sell raffle tickets. I had a quick conversation with Senator Dale Righter and thanked him for his support and gave him a flier, he said he'd check his calender to see if he can join us. Also spoke briefly to Josh Wegger who is running for state senate I assume against Righter. I asked him how he was on the 2A and was fairly impressed by his answer he said "keep 100%, bear good as well just with a few training things I'd like to see". The fact that he understands the difference between keep and bear and he actually used that language tells me he wasn't feeding a line of bs. Also I had a great and lengthy conversation with Edward Motly who is running for Edgar Co Sheriff. This gentleman is full tilt support for carry and shared with me an article he wrote back before IGOLD.

Next time someone says "with a little training stuff I'd like to see" ask where that shows up in the Second. I understand we'll never get RTC in IL without some training initially, but where does the Constitution allow ANYONE to attach training requirements to any basic right?? Just sayin'. UAB

UABYa 10-4 but it was a quickie conversation and there were lots of people around so I didn't want to get into a tiss. + I know we aren't going to go from right denied to constitution carry in one step so I'm just leaving that out for the time being. However in sit down conversations I always mention that we are compromising on CCW right off the bat because we shouldn't have to get a "license" to exercise a right. Thus what we are campaigning for is actually unconstitutional in and of itself.

Ol'Coach Posted June 9, 2010 at 08:54 PM Posted June 9, 2010 at 08:54 PM I reckon I'm one of those whose glass is always half full, but after last night's GSL meeting, and my trip through C/U/county today distributing fliers, I believe that there is not gonna be enough space on July 12 to hold the attendees (500)!!!

Ol'Coach Posted June 10, 2010 at 06:34 PM Posted June 10, 2010 at 06:34 PM Don't know how well attended the VFW and American Legion clubs are in outlying areas, but Pro-2A stuff is always welcome in those clubs here, so during my run yesterday, dropped large fliers for posting. Dave of "Dave's Firearms" says, "Hello"!
