Molly B. Posted September 17, 2009 at 12:54 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 12:54 AM http://www.petitiononline.com/ccarryil/petition.html Anyone here know who started this petition? Molly B.
PPK Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:02 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:02 AM No idea, but I did go ahead and sign it. Hope it helps.
Yas Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:02 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:02 AM No Ma'am. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
pyre400 Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:08 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:08 AM I could not find an origin - I'll continue to search, but usually these petitions are advertised. I will not be signing until I know - not like I need anymore junkmail. I found a cached copy of the page from August 1st, and has only had 15-16 signatures since that date. Where did you find it Molly?
Molly B. Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:35 AM Author Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:35 AM Another member emailed asking if was legitimate.
eric2281 Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:44 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:44 AM I'm going to hold off signing until someone can verify authenticity. :Drunk emoticon: On a semi-related note, I sent back the NRA Illinois-specific poll they mailed out.
PPK Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:49 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 01:49 AM To: Governor Pat Quinn, State Legislature All but two states have figured out that crime goes DOWN when law-abiding citizens are allowed to arm themselves against armed criminals. Illinois is one of them. We hereby call on this state to enact a conceal-carry law. Sincerely, At the risk of being called a grass hopper, what is there about this that you don't trust or agree with? It seems pretty straight forward. I know a petition with only 85 signatures would just get laughed at in Springfield but I plan on sending the link to the few people in my email address book and ask them to forward it on.
Molly B. Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:00 AM Author Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:00 AM My query is more about whether or not it is still an active petition which the author intends to pursue.
Bud Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:10 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:10 AM My query is more about whether or not it is still an active petition which the author intends to pursue. here is the person that created the petition: Robert Moon tusk2019@yahoo.com It's listed right on the webpage. Copy that exact listing above paste it into a Google search. There are LOTS of hits.
PPK Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:17 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:17 AM His name is all over the Illinois Tea site.
pyre400 Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:44 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:44 AM His name is all over the Illinois Tea site.Yes it is - the only concern I have with online petitions is their legitimacy. Usually they ask for email addresses, and sometimes mail addresses. If you come accross a fraudulent one, they have a topic of interest and a means to contact you. As far as I'm concerned, junkmail/spam is the worst outcome. My query is more about whether or not it is still an active petition which the author intends to pursue. here is the person that created the petition: Robert Moon tusk2019@yahoo.com It's listed right on the webpage. Copy that exact listing above paste it into a Google search. There are LOTS of hits. Thanks budman - I had seen so many hits on different topics... I must admit it never occurred to me to simply email Robert. :Drunk emoticon: So.. email sent, I'll share the reply I get. I'll point Robert to this thread if he replies (sure is an active fellow)
Howard Roark Posted September 17, 2009 at 07:36 AM Posted September 17, 2009 at 07:36 AM I don't trust it. Large "annonymous" groups of people (like the 9-12) are more effective anyway than random Internet polls and petitions. The internet/web records everything, and the government is tracking everything. I am an informed engineer, not a paranoid right wing radical. If I sign that petition, my IP will be recorded and the government may come to my home to collect my AR-15, my automatic pistiol, or my .50 caliber rifle. I won't sign it. P.S. Thanks Molly B. you are the best.
PPK Posted September 17, 2009 at 12:28 PM Posted September 17, 2009 at 12:28 PM If I sign that petition, my IP will be recorded and the government may come to my home to collect my AR-15, my automatic pistiol, or my .50 caliber rifle. I won't sign it. I really hate to burst your bubble but the government probably already has a little bit of information on you. Like maybe Driver's license info, FOID info, SSN #... They even have my finger prints :Drunk emoticon: I doubt that the Illinois Tea website is a government run scheme to take your guns. Think I'll call my broker and invest in aluminum foil.

PPK Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:23 PM Posted September 17, 2009 at 02:23 PM Just received email from Robert Moon Yes, it's still active. And I intend to print and send them as soon as the signatures reach 1,000...and then again at every additional thousand after that. And there are always certain people who worry about the effectiveness/security of on line petitions. We have had great success with them in Illinois and all that is asked for is your name, city/state, and email address...which is kept from view, and not even I get to see them. Do you live anywhere near Bloomington? If so, we've got a 2nd Amendment event there on Sunday, September 20th. Click here for the details. Thanks, Robert MoonIllinois Regional CoordinatorTea Party Patriots

Jeffrey Posted September 17, 2009 at 04:24 PM Posted September 17, 2009 at 04:24 PM #100 I've sent this to quite a few people who don't belong to this site but do support our 2A. Everyone here should be doing the same.
jkrzos Posted September 17, 2009 at 09:50 PM Posted September 17, 2009 at 09:50 PM Howdy, I'm 113 and just emailed it to my email list. Keep it going John Krzos
raiven Posted September 17, 2009 at 11:06 PM Posted September 17, 2009 at 11:06 PM ok i went ahead and signed it im 118 on the list.
Sigma Posted September 18, 2009 at 02:18 AM Posted September 18, 2009 at 02:18 AM The link to the Sept 20 thingy doesnt work. If Howard thinks the government doesn't know what kind of gun he has just wait until they read the post you wrote stating exactly what kind of gun you have. It really don't matter to ehm anyways. You got a FOID card you got a gun. They will assume you will have the worst case scenario gun. Maybe if you signed the petition you wouldn't have to worry about government taking your guns. P.S.Thats the point of this forum anyways. I cant beleive a petition like this hasn't hit 1000 yet. That guy for Fridays restaraunt got 1 million subscribers to facebook in record time. Oh yeah it need to be updated. Illinois is the ONLY State. Wisconsin is on board.
PPK Posted September 18, 2009 at 02:38 AM Posted September 18, 2009 at 02:38 AM The link to the Sept 20 thingy doesnt work.Don't know what happened to it. It worked earlier today in this thread and the separate thread I started just for the event.
